We were at a Father's Day outdoor event today. Dogs were welcome so we brought Chloe.

As we were leaving, this man approached me and said "I've never seen a brown one before"

I was think huh Brown labs not exactly rare!

Then he goes is it a Brown Rothweiler?

Me no she's a lab

Him oh really ,she's big

Me to myself- best put Chloe on a diet but am positive she'll still look like a lab not a Rothweiler.

????????????

Try having a black German Shepherd - yes they come in black - no he is not a Belgium Shepherd. I even had a person whisper dickhead under his breath at me one day. Whatever - I like Belgiums as well. But seriously, some male labs are getting more jowly but if Chloe is the one in your photo - wow. Not one of those at all.

Once While out walking a young Lochie I had a young guy race up to me all excited telling me he had a dog just like that at home, a labradoodle. Um no this is an Afghan Hound, was my slightly miffed reply.

SparkyCat not sure what it is with sighthoundss and Goats but my old boy Faxon was once called a Goat. :o

Hahaha I always get told I have a border collie, a koolie, or some weird crossbreed. The best thing is when they argue after I tell them she's an Australian Shepherd. ???? "There's no such thing!!!"

Whitney is blue great dane, quite small. I get told she is a weimaraner or a dane cross. I obviously have dane envy, and can't accept the dog I have "is not a pure dane"

I just don't get it. I mean - I often ask what a dog is if I can't guess (one at day care the other day - looked like a corgi x - but it was a griffon x bulldog)

AND

I often bite my tongue when I'm told someone owns a "Fantabadoodle" or other made up cross- but why would you argue with someone over what they say their dog is. What a waste of energy. I might walk away thinking they're an idiot - but I wont waste my breath saying it.

Even when people tell me what they think Scottie has in him (lots of suggestions of Kelpie - I doubt it) I just smile, nod and say "probably" ...

Sadly many people ask what is he? and my reply is a Silver standard poodle, response "are you sure?" majority of people think he is a groodle or labradoodle or poodle X and then assume i'm disappointed because he's only a poodle!!!
