Willem
Please don't fast your Pug. It's unnecessary and bordering on cruel. They are far too obsessed with food and hunger for that :) Simply exercise him more and feed less and add some bulk as other people have suggested, if you wish. ...'cruel' is feeding to much so a dog becomes overweight... Tassie
Just as a guide to quantity .. my 14.8-15 kg senior Border Collie, has 1/3 cup of Black Hawk kibble morning and night .. with some non-fat yoghurt. She gets some training treats .. but is not particularly active. Though thanks to Jumabaar among others, she does do a it of conditioning work. My pretty active 7 year old agility/obedience BC .. at 21.5 kg, has 2.3 cup of kibble morning and night. So at a guess, I'd say you could safely lower the amount of food a bit ..and filling up with mashed veggies ( not too much of the starchy/sweet ones though) and or fat free no added sugar yoghurt, should help. ~Anne~
Eliminate the treats and snacks. Easy. I've had pugs most of my life and I've always managed to keep them on the lean side. I do this by not feeding anything but their meals. No snacks or treats. They know not to beg because they never get anything.
skip
How is the diet going? I changed food bowls to different sizes for my three to remind me the Chihuahua has a tiny belly regardless of her huge appetite!
