I'll try make it short... *dream home is finally built moving in with partner *will absolutely not let me get a Weimaraner ???? (Love these dogs) previously I have had two family pets both gorgeous German shepards *completly opposite to a weim but I've decided to go for a poodle (toy) huge downsize! ???? I like their energetic cheeky personalities and will be comfortable having this dog live inside full time because of its low maintenance, coat etc *partner now wants a staffy (we have been arguing about the fact that he has stupidly been sucked into the "blue staffy" craze, and I don't want a bar of it. Any recommendations for a reputable breeder for toy poodles, in either in Nsw or Vic, would be greatly appreciated! Also, I can't seem to find a "search" tab?! ???? Simply Grand Posted June 1, 2016 Share Posted June 1, 2016 Re Toy Poodle, great little dogs, so much fun BUT definitely go for a reputable breeder who focuses on both health and temperament as they can have issues with both, get into some obedience training and socialise well (but carefully) with everything including other dogs as they do need to learn how to behave calmly around other dogs so they don't get themselves into trouble. They tend to trigger prey drove in other dogs, through no fault of their own, but if they panic and run they can end up hurt. Also, don't fall for their cuteness and treat them like a toy instead of a dog, they are VERY good at learning to manipulate humans but they respond beautifully to training and consistency and being treated like any other dog :) And you can teach them lots is fun tricks like walking on their hind legs, twirling and high 10! Dogsfevr Posted June 1, 2016 Share Posted June 1, 2016 The Wei & The Toy Poodle i would consider very even in natures in the sense of often to people oriented,manipulative & sometimes obsessed .both can be very one person orientated though so something to consider if its a dog for you both . I'm sorry I don't know how to specifically quote individual people. I have a few breeders that I'm carefully and thoroughly going to research. Welcome any recommendations on toy breeders. After weeks of arguing I do not think I will win my fight for a beautiful toy poodle. He will not budge on this. Unfortunately will be needing something a little more "masculine" no offence poodle. German Pinscher?? I'm looking for a lively little character who will become part of the family. We are in our 30's with no children and live in a great suburb near the beach. Small to medium size, ideally with minimal shedding and low doggy odour ???????????? They are rugged enough to do lots of things that bigger dogs do. Our BT goes to my partner's workshop some days, and loves to visit the mechanics next door and the coffee and kebab (hem) place. Alibi Posted June 2, 2016 Share Posted June 2, 2016 I don't often recommend them but a smooth coat griffon bruxellois ticks all your boxes. My boyfriend is smitten with our girl (he didn't want a girlie dog either), they love being with their people and ours goes as many places as we can with her, are active but will settle when you do, ours loves going to the beach but isn't a real keen swimmer but loves the sand.
