persephone
Oh Dear ... This morning,I had 4 dogs , and was wandering along the riverbank to check our pump . Heard a scuffle in a clump of bamboo ahead of me ..then a SPLASH ... then Pudden came trotting past with a tiny dove in his mouth ! We had seen this bird yesterday , with an injured wing ...I looked for it this morning, but obviously it had moved .. I was going to put it out of its pain ..but not quite that way . Pudden surprised me ..he beat the others, dived in, & swam a short distance .....a bird dog!!

persephone
Now we have acres of swampy mudflats ..and lots of prickles hiding in the mud ;) Mary ( I count her as a destructive-type dog) can manage to get hers out - why can't the dogs ? PossumCorner
Clever Mary! We just had a problem with grass-seeds in a sheep's hoof. I hate them with a passion, tons of steel-sharp corkscrew (elodia) at the moment - winds into the ponies manes - dogs' pads and sheep faces also suffer, and the barley grass near eyes is as dangerous and nasty but at least easier to remove. Ah yes Our sheep ( and fluffy dogs get covered in clover burr ) Mary was pulling out caltrop or 3 corner jack - didn't look closely enough to determine which ;)
persephone
What our dogs are needed for - and why they also have to be bloody minded and tough! The Boss & the crew mustered these feral/wild goats over the past week, many thousands of acres, and much dust .'The' truck comes for them tomorrow .... Don & 'Rudolph' Ash & mary mary ... PossumCorner
Is that a Mary look-alike on the far right? And the one standing up to the bale, does it have an extra large head-set, difficult to see - do you have any closer shots of that one?
