You should be proud of them Starkehre, they are awesome :D

I sure am SG. They are so amazing, really happy with how they are maturing and grasping life so far.

2 puppies left last night, 7 still here, with 5 going over the next week or so

They all look so gorgeous. It will be hard letting them go. May they all have long happy and healthy lives. You and Seven have given them a great start Starkehre. :)

Thanks so much Lab Tested.

It is hard letting them go. today was the most difficult so far because this was the first owner that was a complete stranger to me prior to this. that said we have become quite friendly and we get along great. I am very happy for the new owners and the puppies and extremely happy with all my chosen homes. It's just an emotional moment, like cutting the apron strings and putting complete trust in someone elses hands. It's scary, really scary. but you know you have to do and just try and trust the decisions you've made. :)

Oh Starkehre! Must be an emotional roller coaster! Happy & Sad at the same time.

I'm sure it's about time we saw a pic of mumma Seven's beautiful face..

I know I say it all the time.. but every time I pop in I am just stunned at the time, effort and love you've put into these babies. They are sooo fortunate to have been given an amazing head start in their lives. It really shows what an 'an ethical breeder looks like' - in my eyes anyway! Really eye opening!

I will take a photo of Seven's lovely face especially for you tomorrow :)

What amazing puppies - and do good to see an excellent breeder at work. Although as someone else said, it makes me a little sad when I contrast with the start my rescue westies must have had.

Congratulations Starkehre. Great job!! Could almost convert me to rotties!

Could almost convert me to rotties!

My first close up encounters with Rotties was as a volunteer dog walker at a small Sydney pound. Everyone should have that experience. Such beautiful dogs .... I would love one when all my littlies have gone to God, but I will be too old :( Will become a foster carer, though. :) :)

It's a shame you don't feel you could own a Rotti later on. As long as you are reasonably fit and strong, age shouldn't come into it too much. I have a 69 year old single girlfriend who is looking at getting another one soon. Still, foster caring is a fantastic idea. there certainly are plenty of Rottis in rescue. good on you

You guys are all very sweet and kind with your compliments. Believe me, I feel I could have done a lot more and really wanted to, but unless I had an extra pair of hands and was a bit younger myself, I simply did as much with these babies as I could. :(

Another beautiful girl left today, Lola. bless her cotton socks, she was such a favourite. My husband has shed a tear or two(as discretely as he could of course) as he had grown quite fond of Lola. She is such a character. she plays tug by holding the toy in her mouth and laying down, the others have to do all the work and end up dragging her along the ground  She sits on her siblings instead of tackling them and she liked to follow OH around when he was home. We will miss her cute teddy bear face and her nickname was "Huge Angry Dots" or "Food Whore"

Piccies of Lola and her lovely new owner Billie

And as I promised AnimalLover, a photo of Seven today who has self weaned her puppies from her by renegotiating their relationship to one of play. Amazing to see. Such a sensible and fantastic mum

I'm so close to conversion too but I'm not sure a rottie is a good fit for me. But between this thread (where I have fallen in love with the in depth puppy raising method. If there is a listing of breeders of any type who go these extra miles I would jump on that...) and the two ppl I know currently with darling rottie puppies I have entertained thoughts and the odd day dream!

Seven is really amazing and sensible AL.

Yeh, she is perfectly fine with her puppies going. She just treats them with nurturing and lessons while they are here and when they go, they go, she's fine with that... someone elses problem then

Lol is a beauty. If not for her pretty average topline, she would be in a show home for sure. She is a stunner and a replica (bitch version) of her dad, Bomber.

Still better you choose your suited breed rather than just a raising protocol, tho I do understand exactly here you are coming from :)

Puppy Culture have a world map that shows Puppy Culture breeders from around the world. I tried to find the link for you but I couldn't... hopeless with these things LOL.

Nothing wrong with asking your chosen breeder to look into adopting the Puppy Culture protocols on raising puppies, however it is very very full on and not something that many breeders would choose to add to their already busy time.

There is a puppy culture breeder in Aussie Shepherds although she is not on the map, I believe it is Pawsitive. :)

It must be getting much more quiet at your house now Starkehre, not as many little puppy noises any more! How many are left now?

Great, more P/C breeders SC, that's fantastic. such excellent news. I hope she gets herself on the map soon :)

Yes, only 5 here now mate. Getting quieter and more manageable LOL. Another one leaving tomorrow and sunday.

When I worked at RSPCA ACT we were lucky enough to be given the opportunity to do what we called "Super Puppy" protocol, which seems to be very similar to Puppy Culture, to the extent that we had the time with our shelter born litters.

We just couldn't do the full extent of what you've done Starkehre but it was so awesome to have management that saw the importance of this really important early stimulation and socialisation. We did the daily minor stress type stuff from a few days old with handling, upside down puppy, sideways puppy, tickle the feet, pinch to toe pads, different surfaces, different temperatures etc as much as we could. It was great.

I would love it if it was practicable for all shelter and pound litters to experience the protocols as shelter puppies are so behind the 8 ball anyway that anything that can be done to help set them up for going to their home is great.

ETA it was SO tough to have to play with puppies as part of my job :p

I found the link to the world Puppy Culture breeder map

https://www.puppyculture.com/breeder-location-map.html

Unfortunately as you will see there are still only currently two P/C breeders here in Australia. I was the first and now there is a Border Collie breeder in

Tasi.

I believe there will be more soon. :)

I hope so! I will watch it keenly for hope of it spreading thank you. I'm not strongly attached to any one breed at this time, as too many I think could work fine for me (with tweaks on my end) and it is the individual that matters more... Easier and harder when one prefers to get teens. But that is a long way off, lightly watching in mean time because so interesting!

Simply grand, I agree! I would love to see the shelter puppies have something similar to this to help give them that extra boost in life. Very important life skills at important time they could be missing out on! I would equally watch rescues that did this. To help the little guys be as prepared for new life as much as possible... Great work!

That's fantastic SG, would have been extremely rewarding. It would be an excellent idea for all shelters to adopt such protocols. I am guessing time and funds would be an issue.

I'm so converted!

I already have to have my wits about me and be strong with my new one , i had forgotten after having 2 easy going old duffs before how much on your game you need to be with strong willed dogs!

They're one of the few big dogs I'd have in a heart beat. If we'd owned our own house we'd have taken one home with us the day we busted Scottie out of the pound. "Elvis" was in the shelter for .... months ...after we got Scottie and we seriously talked about going back and getting him a few times.

I've loved every second of this thread :D

The world can always do with more dedicated and responsible Rotti owners :D

Steve has just left today. Bless his cotton sox being called Steve LOL... but it is cute. He had his dry bath, ears cleaned and off he went. I cry every time.

Poor owners, I hate upsetting them

We took the 4 remaining puppies to the beach late yesterday arvo. It certainly was a juggling act, but they had a ball. Can't wait to take mind back when the others are gone.

Seven will be dying for a nice swim too :)

Some piccies of Steve and his new owner and also one of Lola manding for her new playmate.
