9 Week Old Bully With Loose To Runny Stools!?

Hello all!! Thought I would put it out there (and no doubt this has been discussed somewhere in here before)! However 5 days ago we collected our beautiful PB bully and the breeder said the litter has had a touch of the runs which her vet said was due to them being weaned from the mothers milk recently...Her diet was tinned jelly meat however we only give our Bullys Royal Canin puppy kibble, so we introduced that to her along with a chicken and rice meat to incorporate the change from her current diet. We also are giving her 1 cap of pure ACV in her water (which she loves) to help with her loose to runny stools and whatever else maybe going on in there!).

We noticed she was small for a 9 week old pup, (3.8kg) as our first Bully was a whole 2.2 kilos heavier than her at the same age. She is eating about half to maybe 2/3(on the odd day) of her recommended food amount. Anyways yesterday is was looking like her stools were hardening but this morning they are back to runny. Its not uncontrollable, she is sleeping and playing well, however eating could be improved? She has been wormed 4 times already from the breeder so am wondering is that too much as she is only 9 weeks. She has also only had one vac the breeder did say she had had her 8 weeks also, but in the book she has not :( Thank you for any helpful suggestions. She is due to go to our Vet for her checkup and next vacs in the next 2 days.

When you go to the vet, get a fecal float done - look for coccidia, giardia, and roundworms... all can cause runny poop... the float takes about 10-15 mins to get done, and can easily check for the presence of the 3 issues I've mentioned. If she's otherwise happy and healthy and doing everything like normal, I'd probably get someScourban or Ensal and treat her with it for a couple of days to thicken her up.

Scourban I have been told by my vet is too drastic on a puppy so young, but from the vet you can purchase Peptosyl which also does a great job on clearing up any loose stools, I am wondering if it is wise, also, to be getting her vaccinated until this problem is fixed.

do not vaccinate a puppy with loose stools. Also do not vaccinate her again if she was done at 8 weeks. Give your pup some chicken wings (RAW), always helps firm mine up. Do a fecal float but do not worm again until 12 weeks unless a problem is shown.

I've just used it on a 6 week old pup with liquid poop - and she was only 1.5kgs... worked just fine with no adverse side effects. I've used it effectively on many foster pups over the years. Dosage rate used was 2ml/3kg bodyweight.

Try giving her some slippery elm powder, mixed with a little water. Mix one teaspoon of powder to about 1 cup f water and let it gel up. Split this amount between a few doses.

Maybe the change of food to dry has had an effect on her stools. I'd stop the dry food and give her some boiled chicken and rice for few days together with the slippery elm powder 2 to 3 times per day.
