Flexistentialist
Thought folks on DOL would be interested in this series of classic paintings that include dogs. Unfortunately they're not correctly captioned, but the paintings are quite beautiful. http://the-toast.net/2015/10/27/dogs-i-would-like-to-own-in-art-even-though-they-are-probably-dead-now/
RuralPug
Agreed, the captions are truly odd, but the artworks are lovely. Thanks for sharing!

Boronia
Maybe others have old prints of their breeds and can post them. I have an old framed print of a Landseer painting called Dignity and Impudence (1839) this is a photo of it
JulesP
I have a framed print of this painting. It is called Found and dates back to the 1800s. Possibly by Albert Schenck or Walter Hunt. There seems to be confusion who actually painted it.
gillybob
Some of those paintings are beautiful but the wording is strange. I love pics with dogs would love to see some with fauves and Wolfhounds. They often used the two together.

Landseer did wonderful work, and of course his name is still attached to the pied Newfoundlands that he painted so well!
