Dog Breed Clubs

No club for kerry blues and while there are wheaten clubs, to paraphrase Groucho Marx, I wouldn't join a club that had some people as members.

I have had mixed experiences. One good, the other awful due to politics. I had hoped to participate in a meaningful way, but walked away due to some of the nastiness.

There isn't a state breed club for Lappies...I'm a member of the Victorian and NSW club facebook pages but I'm weighing up the pros and cons of official membership since I don't show and won't be going interstate for events etc.

Joining a club doesn't mean you have to interact with people .

Breeds clubs in particular can only survive if they have a set number of members ,if members drop & they can't source them then clubs often fold .

They survive on memberships .

I'm a member of the Dalmatian Club of Vic - I don't go on committees but I do donate ribbons etc to Nationals for obedience/agility, write for the newsletter, go on breed stands and do demos.

Member of the Vic Gundog Club - help at trials, write for the newsletter, run training days and just joined the committee.

I think it's really important.
