aussielover
Is he happy in his sleeping area? When my dog was a pup she would pee and poo through the night in the laundary. As soon as she was moved to the bedroom she never had an issue again with toileting inside overnight.
Her Majesty Dogmad
I've got plenty of suggestions but no 1 is that he must have access to go outside and toilet. One friend I have feeds her dogs their main meal at breakfast time and then they are outside all day. In the evening they get just a snack, are toiletted before bedtime and there are rarely any incidents as they cannot get outside, once she has closed the doors - no dog door. This is not how I like to live but for her it works. I have a housetraining method which I'm happy to share with you, if you like. Using my method I have successfully housetrained Italian Greyhounds (who are notoriously difficult) that have lived in a breeder's kennels for 14 years .... I'm not saying it was easy. I've also housetrained many other dogs I've rescued, of all ages, and other people's dogs when they are unable to achieve it themselves. FalconRange
Dogmad, would you mind sharing your housetraining program? I've a colleague who has a Cav that they've had significant issues housetraining, and haven't managed to train reliably. I'm sure they would appreciate the help! :)
