Pretty Miss Emma
My 14 year old foster doesn't have great teeth. She wouldn't be able to eat the bones I give my dogs. But I'm thinking that she might enjoy having a chew on a bone every so often and gumming it about. But what sort of bone can I give her? Could she have a small turkey neck or something? She's a border collie. Of course maybe she doesn't care and I just want her to have the things my dogs get!!
Vehs
Yeah I think necks or even a drumstick would be good
Steph M
How about a really meaty brisket bone? More meat and fat than bone and the coles ones are usually pretty cartilage-heavy!
Pjrt
Gruf is really enjoying whole fish heads. Large salmon/trout heads take him about ten minutes to eat. He is a young medium size dog. The fish head do require quite a bit of crunching up but the bones are not really hard. There is a video of him eating one on his FB page ' It's A Gruf Life' Edited September 27, 2015 by blinkblink
Bjelkier
My 14yr old Lab has nubs for teeth and I swear he gums large marrow bones to nothing these days lol. Seems to enjoy them as much as ever
westiemum
Macs teeth are pretty sparse and poor too - but he still goes to town on half a turkey neck and loves them! He also loves chicken frames but none of them have had them for a long time as Sarah can't have chicken.
ness
Ness had lost and worn quite a few teeth when she passed away but was still having her raw food - chicken frames, necks, turkey necks, lamb forequarters etc. Edited September 28, 2015 by ness
Lucky-Dog
Hello blinkblink, never knew you could feed fish heads to dogs, but Gruff looks like he is enjoying himself :)
Pretty Miss Emma
Gave her the skinny half of a turkey neck today (Kenz and Hamish got the thick ends, frozen) and yep, she gummed away on it and there were some crunching noises and then there was no turkey neck!! Think we'll stick with this as she seemed to love it!
westiemum
Excellent. Glad she enjoyed it. You've reminded me that I should get some for my guys again too.
