Boronia
I have been buying Synflex and it's working quite well But I was wondering if there was a similar product (liquid Glucosamine and Chondroitin ) I usually buy two bottles to make the postage costs more palatable but I'm getting fed up with digging into my bank balance :D This is the Synflex web site http://www.synflexusa.com/ if any DOLers can suggest an alternative it'd be great. The Spotted Devil
What are your DOL search skills like Boronia? I posted about a powder I'm using for Zig and Em - but I can't recall which thread and I'm in my phone so all too hard after a glass of wine lol Very reasonably priced, buy on eBay and comes recommended by Greyhound and Gundog folk. Shoot me a PM if you can't find it and I'll check Mr TSD's eBay account. ETA: That would be ON my phone as opposed to IN it Edited September 19, 2015 by The Spotted Devil

westiemum
Found it here - this is Spotty's previous link - there's also a 500gm pack for half the price from the same seller from memory. I've been meaning to get a bag myself to try with my oldies too. B if its liquid you want then there is something called flexicose but its out of the US and the postage is pretty horrendous. Also something called osteox - you might be better off with a generic liquid glucosamine from the chemist. Boronia
I like the liquid as it's easy to measure out but I CAN manage to cut up tablets. I have had a small search and saw these tablets http://www.ausnatura...in-60-tabs-e104 I have emailed the company and asked them how much to give a 8kg dog (that'll stump them!) This link covers all their arthritis products http://www.ausnatura...rch%2Fresult%2F I have bought from this company before and they are pretty good. If anyone does order from them it is worth joining their newsletter first as they send a discount coupon that you can use when your order, it usually covers the postage anyway. What do you DOlers think about the tablets in my link? edited for crook spellin' Edited September 19, 2015 by Boronia
The Spotted Devil
Just quickly - the powder I use is super easy - half tsp for Zig and a quarter for Em. Sprinkled on their dinner at night.
Boronia
Just quickly - the powder I use is super easy - half tsp for Zig and a quarter for Em. Sprinkled on their dinner at night. I saw that spottie so got into ebay searching mode and found these that may be more economical at a glance (price per 100g-wise) this is 500g http://www.ebay.com....=item35da5e5104 This is 1kg http://www.ebay.com....=item2322e0e09a both from the same company and free postage I don't see the amount of Glucosamine or Chondrin in the ebay listing of the packet you bought...does it say on your packet? These are the ingredients in the Nutra Life products though the it's a 'serve size' which is confusing. I will email and ask for a 8kg serving recommendation Ingredients Serve size: 15g Serves per day: 2 Servings per pack: 66 Average quantity per 15g serve per 30g per 100g Energy195kJ(47Cal) 390kJ(93Cal)1300kJ(311Cal) Protein<><>0.1g Fat, Total<> <> <> - Saturated <> <> <> Carbohydrate, total 11.3g 22.7g 75.5g - Sugars 10.4g 20.8g 69.3g Sodium 61mg 123mg 410mgPotassium 97mg 194mg 646mg Glucosamine sulfate- potassium chloride complex 750mg 1500mg5g MSM (Dimethyl sulfone) 750mg 1500mg 5g Chondroitin sulfate – Bovine 600mg 1200mg 4g Vitamin C (ascorbic acid)150mg 300mg 1g Zinc (as oxide) 6mg 12mg 40mg Manganese (as sulfate) 3mg 6mg20mg Boron (as Borax) 0.5mg 1mg 3.3mg Copper (as gluconate) 0.5mg 1mg 3.3mg Edited to say that IF I had read further the listing states: Dosage Adults: ¼ level scoop (15 grams) may be added to foods or non acid cold beverages. Stir and serve. Take 2 serves daily, or as directed by your healthcare professional. Shake well before use. Scoop included inside. So that means my lot would be ok on 1/32 tsp or a big two-fingered pinch Edited September 19, 2015 by Boronia
sas
I use and recommend TuffRock K9 JF - not similar ingredients but have had good success on it personally and with clients. It's also very affordable. http://tuffrockk9.net/products/ Edited September 19, 2015 by sas
Boronia
Thanks for that link SAS but it doesn't say how much Glucosamine is in the product. I also saw this powder--> https://www.ovedshorseandpetstore.com.au/dog/dog-joint-health-and-arthritis/technyflex-canine-powder-100g looks ok but it's only 100g though so a bit up there price-wise and though it says it is a powder the dosage indicated capsules so I reckon I won't be buying that product. I've been using this one too, thanks to TSD's recommendation, Kokoda and Henry are doing super well on it! And their vet and chiro were impressed with its ingredients. They each get 1/4 tsp, so i just keep a little 1/4tsp scoop in there to make it easy! One scoop once per day And no issues with palatability. The Spotted Devil
One level tsp (4 grams) contains 835mg Chondroiton and 2500mg Glucosamine. Apparently using green lipped mussel powder in addition is recommended - can't feed to Zig for dietary reasons.
Boronia
I HATE doing comparisons, they hurt my head But the ebay powder that Spotted uses appears to be, per gram, the highest for Chondroiton and Glucosamine as well as being in powdered form. It is 100g less and $5 more than this one http://www.ebay.com....=item35da5e5104 and comes recommended by some of youse guys (a little Aussie vernacular there to cheer up your morning) so I reckon I'll buy this one http://www.ebay.com....=item233281df7d thanks DOLers Edited September 20, 2015 by Boronia

I spoke with the greyhound vet this morning (Maddie is currently having weekly Pentoson injections) about this stuff and he reckons I'm wasting my money but I'm still going to give it a go. I'm going to start them both on it, can't hurt, I just need to work out how much for a 36 kilo dog and a 26 kilo dog :/

HazyWal
Yes the guide is on the ebay listing too but it makes no sense to me :/ 6-10kg - 3/4 tsp for first week-1/3 tsp long term 10-30kg - 1 tsp " " " - 1/2 tsp " " 40kg + - 1 1/2 tsp " " " - 1 tsp " " Maddie is fine in the 10 to 30 kilo range as she is 26 kilos but Stan is 36 kilos so according to that he'd get 1 3/4 teaspoons first week and a bit over one teaspoon long term which is a higher dosage than a 40 kg dog There's no dosage for dogs between 30kg and 40kg. I can't work it out or am I just really stupid
_PL_
We'll be selling some Joint Performance (Canine Formula) which is the best one I've ever used so I'm a bit excited about being able to stock it as a fundraiser. :) I'll pop back in tomorrow and post some details if anyone is interested in comparisons. Too sleepy to do it now My link They do show up at horsey events where you can grab a sample.
OSoSwift
Sooooooo I have been reading up this thread and reading linkies. I have a BRD who is a lean 47kgs. She is nearly 3 years old and has an essentially little known history. When I got her she was in well covered condition but had no muscle condition had been locked in a years for at least 18 months and didn't know how to run. She has no joint issues at this point and is now a fit girl with good muscle tone. I would like to give her every chance I can of being pain free and having healthy joints for as long as I can. So I ma after something to ensure she has the healthiest joints possible. What supplements would you recommend for that? TSD's supplement or something else? I looked at Tuffrock but it really doesn't say what is in it that I can see????
