Caesarean Section For Pug

Hi all, as a new member, please let me introduce myself first; I am a father of pugs now living in Melbourne.

My 16-month old little girl is confirmed pregnant yesterday. I was advised pugs do not usually give birth naturally, she will need caesarean section. As dogs usually have babies at night, it might cost me $4000-$5000 in an emergency centre, or I can do all the fertility management by one vet and it will cost me $1600 for a daytime C-section.

This vet is listed as one of preproduction/fertility specialists in Victoria; I guess I might rely on their advice. I do not mind to spend reasonable money on my dogs, just like to know anyone would have any good vets in their mind, and the price for C-section please.

Just like to do it properly by right person.

Really appreciate your help.

thanks

You need to find the best vet, not the cheapest. Surely you researched this before breeding your pugs? Have you asked the breeder of your pugs for advice?

thanks.

I have got a lot advices from pug breeders.

just like to know a bit more.

Emergency caesarians are high risk. If you are sure that your girl will need it, better and safer to plan ahead for a scheduled one.

Yes. Our first Tibbie needed an emergency caesarian for her first litter of puppies. Puppies didn't survive & the mother went close to not surviving. Her breeder decided that was the end of her show career, wouldn't expose her to risk again. Yet she was an Aus Ch & won Best Puppy in entire Brisbane Royal. She was desexed & retired to a pet home with us. For the rest of her long life she enjoyed outstanding good health.

Agree with oakway, best to run this past the breeders.
