Service Dog Puppy Raisers Needed

Hi, I'm Steph. I work for a small charity called Dogs for Kids with Disabilities. We train service dogs for children with Autism, genetic disorders, mobility disorders etc. We're looking for more volunteers to foster puppies until they are ready to start training at about 14 months of age, which is vital to give the pups the best chance of succeeding as assistance dogs later on. We also need temporary carers to look after dogs or puppies when our foster families are away.

All food, equipment and medical expenses are paid for, and our volunteers will have lessons and support from DKD staff. Similar to guide dogs, our dogs have public access rights so they need to be taken out to shops, restaurants, on public transport etc as puppies. We're based in Seaford so we're looking for carers in Metro Melbourne (preferably south-east) or Mornington Peninsula.

If you or anyone you know might be interested, we'd love to hear from you. There's more information on our website at http://www.dkd.org.au/foster/
