swazzie Posted July 10, 2015 Author Share Posted July 10, 2015 We drop him off Monday between 7-8 and leave him. They'll do the scan and probably an endoscopy sometime that morning. I'll be in work trying to appear interested ! If surgery is required I'm not sure when that'll be , it's wait and see. Only one big burp yesterday and he kept the chicken mince down. Staffyluv Posted July 11, 2015 Share Posted July 11, 2015 Update So he had another ultrasound and they couldn't find cancer!!! He said despite the not eating his tummy had food in it,so he couldn't get a good enough look at all of it. He wants him back Monday morning to do another scan on an empty tummy ( poor dog he's only started eating chicken mince today) He think it is possibly some sort of gastrointestinal disease but won't know until they get a better look He's said there is still a smaller chance it could be cancer They may operate if they find something and if it's the gastro disease it's manageable longer term. We're very very hopeful. Rod was just lovely, very patient and Bru loved him on sight :-) there was lots of body wagging lol Thank you so much to all those who encouraged us to by a second opinion and see a specialist. Also for recommending the amazing BVSC. We're not out of any woods, but we go to bed tonight maybe able to sleep. That is very positive news - hopefully it is something they can fix with a round of antibiotics and Bru will be just fine. Everything crossed for you. The bloods were all normal and no sign of him being jaundiced so shouldn't be the problem. They have a surgical, medical and radiation team. They are truly lovely and it would be worth speaking to them. They treated our girl for a different type of cancer earlier this year. Depends who you see. I spent over $7000 simply on tests ( over three visits ) and the specialist i was dealing with was away the week my boys condition went downhill. I took him back there to be checked by another specialist, but he couldn't be saved. I never even received a phone call from the specialist i was dealing with for the previous three visits. Obviously when he returned and was updated, he simply moved onto his next patient. No compassion that's for sure. The local vet however was fantastic. My dog and I were luckier than you, though, and my local vet, like yours, was fantastic and always at the end of the phone for me. Deepest sympathies. That's terrible RL1, we have been lucky in that they have all been great, in fact we ended up there ourselves on Friday out of the blue - woke to find a lump on the back of Issy's neck, called them and had a return call in 10 minutes to say bring her over at noon, they were booked out - but her Oncologist gave up his lunch break so he could do a fine needle aspirate on the lump for us - so we did not have to stress all weekend. Luckily it was a reaction to a jab they had given her not another tumour. I am sorry you did not get the same kind of service, it must have been very upsetting, it is the worst time anyway when they are sick. I hope I never strike the person you saw there, I am usually not far from hysteria as it is when we go, the dog is very stressed and it puts me on edge. Swazzie - will be thinking of you tomorrow and all fingers and paws are crossed here that you get clear results and a good outcome for Bru. I'm not coping, he's hungry and giving me the sad eyes then the devastated look. ???????? Plus he was sick last night and he's skinnier I think Tomorrow can't come quick enough. RL1 im sorry to hear about your expierence. After having a not so great expierence with our vet I totally understand how upsetting it is , we love our poochies.
