LisaCC
Lol Ruralpug!! She is definitely a mutt - bigger than a kelpie, but the kelpie seems to be the most recognizable cross. She's tan - her coat is almost Labrador-ish - but the hairs are very coarse. (It gets in my clothes and itches like crazy!!) Vacuuming would be perfect - if she wasn't absolutely petrified of the vacuum!! I vacuum my house twice a day and the hair is still everywhere!! Thanks so much for the recommendations all - I'll give them all a go! If she's got an undercoat like a labrador I'd be giving her a good raking with an undercoat rake weekly. The look like THESE. Thats a single row one, they can have double rows too. They don't have blades like furminators, great at getting out undercoat!
Mrs Rusty Bucket
I find a shammy leather (Chamois) even a $2 synthetic one can help quite a bit in drying my dog but also removing some of the fluff but not like the zoom groom / long fingered curry comb (1/3 the price of zoom groom). haven't tried a "slicker". After a bit of a google - those slickers look like wool "carders" that we used to make input for the spinning wheel out of raw fleece...
