Don't hear much of maulings happening round here, but there are so many loose dogs posted on the Bendigo Lost Pets page daily that I'm not surprised. espinay2
People get alpaca thinking they make good flock guards. They may work on the odd fox, but unfortunately this shows just how effective they are with dogs.

HazyWal
Is it Bendigo or Ballarat that has no leash laws? :/ I remember reading something here about roaming dogs and no fines for it.
OSoSwift
Alpaca are good with foxes but are no match for a pack of roaming dogs. If the dogs got shot there would be an uproar. People need to get thei shit together! If they were on my place and caught they would not leave.

Better Late
HazyWal, Bendigo has leash laws and wandering dogs can attract a fine of $221 if out during the day and $295 during the night. I googled the same for Ballarat but didnt come up with anything! Surely they must have some sort of fine you would think...perhaps someone else might be able to find it/let us know. And I'm with you OSoSwift, no wandering dog on my place would leave if busted. I'd prefer a LGD over an alpaca any day.
