I've just caught up on the thread (with my heart in my mouth!) and I wonder if these oldies have any idea how much they scare us? So pleased he is mostly back to his old self. There is no point him spending 24 hours a day in an unsafe daze on the off chance he has is going to have another seizure. Let him be Mac for whatever time he has left.

My old girl Zeddy will be 16 next month... and last winter she needed Meloxicam in order to get out of bed in the mornings...

This winter is colder and wetter, and she is coping just fine with her new fleecy lined coat and new high sided beddy... go figure!

Wouldn't change them for the world though, would we?

Thanks T and LG - and no I definitely wouldn't change him for anything. He's definitely brighter tonight - and enjoying snoozing on his favourite cushion. Gallomphs PJs have been a God-send - thank you so much G flower.jpg. I think they work like a thunder shirt and he's been happily pottering around in them for over 24 hours eek1.gif Getting them off him for a wash in the morning ain't going to be easy!! laugh.gif

ETA: T when is Zeddy's birthday? Mac will be 16 on 13 August and I have a westie clan gathering in the park planned for the 15th. thumbsup1.gif

With a blue cheese cake ??

I have discovered something else that Danny loves and when I give him a dollop to get him started on his normal food, I think of Mac. What is Danny's latest? Jamie Oliver's Cheeky Cheesy Cauliflower soup.  It is very rich so he gets only very small helpings.

Hi Westiemum - so glad the PJs are keeping him snug.

I've been lurking here in this thread, keeping an eye on Mac's progress. I have 4 oldies, so I really sympathize with the emotional roller-coaster they can put you on!

Thanks coogie - the Mighty Mac has improved a lot in the last 24 hours - to the point I was confident enough to leave him and go to the football this afternoon, after giving them all brunch and Mac his meds.

I got home to a happy spritely, bright-eyed, steady barking and demanding old man(H'e was hungry of course!). While I'm sure he still has some cognitive knock-off from the seizure last Sunday he really does seem much more 'with it'. I tell you this old dog has to be one of the most resilient creatures on earth!! I'm daring to look forward to his birthday celebration on the 15th which earlier this week I was doubting he would make!

I cannot believe how this dog continues to bounce back - he seriously has over 47,577 lives - and its emotionally exhausting! This morning he's very steady and even had a bit of a trot down the hall!! He's bright-eyed, hungry as always and we've had a lovely morning in bed! laugh.gif Here he is a few minutes ago:

Dear old soul, every day is a bonus isn't it. :)

Apart from being a bit unsteady on her feet due to her arthritis, Zeddy was thankfully pretty low maintenance right up to the end... literally sudden onset and that was it. I think I had been mentally preparing for it though for some time... which I also think made the whole thing so much easier to cope with.

Enjoy Mac and his funny antics... we'll all miss him when it's his time you know...
