Stressmagnet
Hey While I walk Ernie (slmost( every day, sometimes it gets a bit lonely for us. I get bored just talking to the dog about the news, and while he is VERY understanding when I bag out my family -- I sense he's getting a bit tired of my stories. I'm wondering iff there are any Central Coasties who would like to meet up once a week for a social dog walk. It can be a chance to practice leash manners, a way to socialise our dogs to new dogs and a chance for their humans to meet new people in a way that doesn't make you feel all shy and awkward cos the focus is on the dogs. Personally, I find as a stay at home mum with school age children, I'm a bit lonely sometimes. I don't do coffee mornings with other parents well as I'm too odd for the mothers and could care less about bragging about my girls or slagging off some other kid. I think that a once a week meet up where I can ooh and ahhh over other dogs, talk dog to other owners and get some fresh air would be good for me (and Ernie). I'd also I've to find new dog walking places. Anyone around that's interested? Or am I too weird?

RiverStar-Aura
Stressy I hope someone on here lives close by to join you on this; I'm too far down the Coast sadly. This is why I'm glad for my dog walking community. We're a group of strangers who've bonded over our love of dogs and talk about everything from the weather to politics etc. on the plus side, the regulars all have well mannered dogs too!! Stressmagnet
It's not looking good... I may in fact BE too odd. Or a serial axe murderer. Or something. Maybe my posts have scared decent folks off. Lol. Ah well, I shall return to being a social dog walker of one.

HazyWal
I'm sure Hankodie was in a walking group, out Killcare way? :/ They have one down here that they formed from a FB group called Peninsula Sisters, they do walks, beach days, coffee etc we don't go because Maddie's a biatch but they have a lot of fun. Maybe see if there's one on FB? I'm friends with the girl that runs Gosford Pound so I'll msg her and ask if she knows of anything, she's involved in a lot of doggy activities. Edited because I said dodgy instead of doggy Edited April 16, 2015 by HazyWal

skip
I am too far but i would join u. gets a bit boring if u walk a lot like i do. Particularly now as it gets dark so early. Safety in numbers.... A guy at our local dog club tried to get a group walk going. Maybe try that. Good luck

Simply Grand
I'd be in if I was there for sure! You'd be fun to walk and chat with Stressy. What about the dog parks? I've usually found groups of regulars I get to know and chat to. Ernie's socialable enough to give you an opening isn't he? Quinn and Saxon are very good at forcing themselves on people for attention so I can sidle my way into conversations Depends on the times you can go though I suppose, I think regulars usually go mornings and evenings rather than in the heat of the day. What a pity you aren't up here, we have a great big fenced park here where you can walk around or stand and chat to the regulars while the dogs sniff and play, we'd love to have you

aliwake
Dog parks on the Central Coast suck compared to ours SG. None of them are fenced or well equipped like our with doggy bags and water. I was down there at Christmas and was very unimpressed! We're so lucky up here, I've met some really lovely people through my dog park.

Sad face here.

There's only a few that are fenced, Tuggerah is the newest and most popular. Terrigal where I'm from has their off leash park at The Haven, with no fence and a hundred foot drop off the cliff to the ocean I can't beleive dogs haven't died there. They do have poo bags and water but a fence along the cliff would be handy O.o
shapeshifter
Hazy I thought the Tuggerah one was just for small dogs? I remember the one we have on the Northern Beaches, it's on the top of a cliff too! SM that sucks that no none kept them going, I think it's because the chick moved up to Newcastle, they used to be all on the Central Coast before that. No all types of dogs my friend takes her greyhound and foxie there, she drives all the way from Narara to go to it and another drives from Terrigal. I don't go to off leash parks I don't like them but the Central Coast is seriously lacking in fenced dog parks. There's heaps of off leash beaches and parks just not fenced.
