Nipple Reduction

Hi,

Bitch used in a puppy farm scenario a few years ago has huge sagging nipples. She is a gorgeous girl and has since been rescued.

Wondering, can she have any procedures to reduce her extremely sagging nipples?

Perhaps but why? Is it affecting her quality of life?

Image a human having a breast reduction....it's not a small surgery and you just wouldn't put a dog through it.

is it elongated nipples, or a saggy under-carriage ? When was her last litter ?lots of Time, exercise and muscle tone help with a saggy undercarriage ..elongated nipples? As sas says - probably only surgery - but why ?

I've rescued more than one dog like this too, they were perfectly fine in all the years they lived with me - I didn't care what they looked like and nor did they.

Not every dog you rescue is perfect, unless there is some real physical issue with this, why would you want to put the dog through the pain and risk of a needless surgery?

Is the aesthetic issue the only one?

So this is a scenario based on something I have seen recently. I have seen images and footage and she looks uncomfortable. I have never seen undercarriage and nipples like this, hence why I am curious.

Yes she is now de-sexed, about 4 months ago. Yes she has a massively saggy undercarriage.

And for the record, there are some women would love a breast reduction :)

Please don't place human values on dogs Cam, if she's not in any discomfort or pain then leave well alone.

And for the record, I've got friends who've had breast reductions amongst other plastic surgery :)

And 4 months is not that long for a girl who if the info is correct, had multiple litters and very average care. Some girls shrink up tighter than others and some take longer.

It can take quite a while for skin to repair. Even on the boys, I've had some who have taken forever to shrink that little empty coin purse left behind after a desex. :laugh: One of whom is upside down next to me proudly displaying his wares.

Problem with females is that you will find it difficult to get a vet to perform a nip-tuck because the canine mammary setup is hugely complex in comparison to ours...and a tuck would be cosmetic.

The pronounced nipples are attached to the mammary tissue (like women but we only have the one on each side) which runs in a chain, a continuous line extending from the 1st nipple to the last. Virtually the entire length of the bitch from the armpits to groin on both sides. Making a canine boob lift not as simple as hoisting up the excess skin. Yes, skin is involved but so is the chain of actual mammary tissue and circulatory system and lymph nodes etc.

Bitches with mammary cancer that has travelled up the chain need a 'mammary strip' a complete removal. Which has to be done in two separate procedures so the healthy skin doesn't die from lack of circulation. It's painful and sad to see but it saves their life.

Feed her a raw natural diet, natural supplements like coconut oil etc. I love the Vet's All Natural Health Booster.

And daily rub some vitamin E onto those poor overworked boobs.
