BC Crazy
Oh poor girl. She sounds like a great bitch in the right hands Nekhbet. Sorry I'm not in the position to be of help as my BC girl despises other female BC's with a passion... but I will keep my ear out. You never know. I so hope she finds a suitable loving home ASAP :)
Nekhbet
Really not one rescue? Anywhere? I have emailed some rescues and left voicemails - nothing back at all. Maybe I should say she's got 3 legs and one eye I'm sure everyone would want her.
BarbedWire
Really not one rescue? Anywhere? I have emailed some rescues and left voicemails - nothing back at all. Maybe I should say she's got 3 legs and one eye I'm sure everyone would want her. See bolded part. I do understand what you are saying here and I probably agree with you, but I have also been guilty. The sick and the scared get rescued first. There was a DOLer involved with border collie rescue. I can't remember her DOL name, but she was located in Canberra and did flyball. Perhaps someone else remembers. The rescue was located in NSW. Something to do with Araluen, I think. ACTCDC may be able to help. Sorry I am not being more useful but I do understand that you are desperate and I am trying to help. I could PM you her real name. eta It might be worth contacting koalathebear who might have some useful suggestions. Her Majesty Dogmad
Rescues are very full at the moment. A few months ago we were trying to help a magnificent male BC, purebred, 18 months of age, unwanted by his owner and living a life of neglect with too little to eat, etc. Nothing from BC Rescue, no one wanted this dog. I'd put it on here, on Facebook and so on. In the end, through a rescue connected friend, a workmate of hers just happened to be looking for a BC. I was shocked at how hard it was to rehome a young, lovely, purebred dog. Rescue's getting harder these days. Nekhbet
The dog is not in my ownership I'm trying third hand to find her a home. Though it seems I see a reason why things are happening as they are so I'm working on it ;) I already have a BC at home I'm trying to rehome lol Maybe I need to teach him a few really cool tricks to find him an uber cool home the little dude needs :D
BC Crazy
You probably already have but what about if you contacted the Border Collie club in Victoria Nekhbet? They usually have someone in charge of rehoming/ rescue I thought. Or perhaps Facebook BC page or the breed rescue page on DOL ??? I am really shocked that no one seems to want to take on a pure breed Border Collie they are sensational dogs. Im may be a tad bias ;) Maybe they are just too much work for some. I don't know... pretty sad actually. Edited February 24, 2015 by BC Crazy
PossumCorner
Can't help, it is some distressing though. Two little old doggies here, Frodo is borderline blind and deaf, and losing the plot a tiny bit. Rheneas also at near 14 is tracking okay aside from at this stage mild arthritis (he'd lost the plot before we rescued him years ago). Couldn't bring another dog into the mix, particularly an active one. Nekhbet I'd be happy to put a hard-copy notice on town notice board if appropriate, if you supplied wording/contact details. Maybe the Rescues are collectively holding their breath waiting for an incoming tsunami of Greyhounds?
Her Majesty Dogmad
I think the issue is that rescues only have so many foster carers and also specialise in the dogs they take. There are groups that specialise in working breeds so hopefully they will have a space. Unfortunately when you get a space it's not hard to fill usually, no matter what sorts of dogs you rescue ... Boronia
Do you think it may be worth while putting an advertisment in 'The land' newspaper? http://www.theland.com.au/ If you contact them they may possibly give you a reduced rate for rescue. Just a thought :)
