Kirislin
They were swarming today. I've never seen these ones do it, although I suppose all ants do. They were swarming everywhere so I took some photos but when I went back 30 minutes later it was as if it had never happened, all was still, not an ant to be seen. 5F6A7485_1 by kirislin, on Flickr 5F6A7481_1 by kirislin, on Flickr 5F6A7472_1 by kirislin, on Flickr 5F6A7470_t by kirislin, on Flickr 5F6A7473_1 by kirislin, on Flickr

Loving my Oldies
Superb photographs as always K. Out walking today and just standing while the dogs sniffed around, I noticed some ants about 1/2 inch long We walked on very hurriedly.
tdierikx
The ones with wings will go off to start their own colony apparently... T.
Kirislin
The ones with wings will go off to start their own colony apparently... T. Yep I believe so T. They were bigger than the other ants, which are quite large anyway. They live by my garage, probably have a massive colony of tunnels under it but mostly dont bother me. If they start attacking the chooks or dogs though, there'll be war.
tdierikx
I've got a huge colony of the smaller (but no less bitey) black ants under my backyard paths... must be an enormous colony under there because the path is cracked and mangled... *grin* They tend to come to the surface before it rains and other odd times... not much fun when you step in a horde of the bitey little buggers!
