fluff1234
Hi, can anyone recommend a cheap but very safe collar in Australia? I am after one with quick release or a safety feature which releases like the keepsafe breakaway collar, I have read so many things lately about dogs playing and getting the collar caught and the risk of fatalities, mine have leather martingdales for walks which I want to start removing and use only at walks, for this risk and the fact its damging their neck fur. So after a collar safe for the day, which if they got out could have our details, but is safe whilst they are playing :) thanks
indigirl
They sell them on ebay as breakaway collars. Petsafe make them I think.
Yonjuro
Non-stop dogwear make one, I have their half check collars and can attest to the excellent quality. There is an agent in Oz that sells to the public. http://www.non-stopdogwear.no/eng/Our-products/Dog-collars Malusky is the oz seller [email protected]
Mavis
I have this issue... And I have to say I do not ever have a collar on my dog. We use a harness for walking.
OSoSwift
The elastic collar does look good, but I wonder, would the elastic snap if the collar twisted around? Collars can be loose and normally slip over the heaqd, but due to twisting and a panicing dog can kill them. Might have to send them an email Mine don't wear collars as they play a lot and a lot of that play is mouthing, bitey face/neck play

Non-stop make their gear for professional mushers and also police and military I think the owners are sled and canicross racers. The items I have bought from them (harness and collars) are all of the highest quality. The collars are also made to prevent collar burn and often used on GSPs - I would think they would be awesome for whippets and greys (assuming you can get the right size) I don't have any experience with the Safe Collar, but is seems to be just a modification to the half-check collars of which I bought a second and then a third when Ronin out grew them - so you could say I was impressed :D
OSoSwift
The elastic collar starts at 30cm, the semi-check starts at 40cm's. My guys are around 30 to 35cms. I make my own limited slips so that is no issue but the safety collars look interesting
Yonjuro
if you want one and can't get the size in Australia then go with these guys. Excellent service and you don't pay the 20% VAT http://non-stopdogwear.co.uk/safe-collar-213-p.asp
