silentchild
Tennis star Venus Williams has gone to the dogs. For help on court. In honour of the America's star turn at Auckland's ASB Classic this week, the event's sponsor ASB went on the hunt to find her the best ball boys in the world and didn't take long to discover they were of the canine variety. Williams took on two-time Grand Slam winner Svetlana Kuznetsova in an exhibition match like no other and was ably assisted by three of the world's biggest tennis (ball) fans: Oscar, Ted and Super Teddy. Clearly Williams, one of the most famous sporting stars on the planet, is enjoying her week in Auckland and she's already promised that she'll encourage her sister, Serena, to play at the tournament next year. Perhaps the lure of playing alongside the world's cutest ball boys might twist her arm. mita
That video is absolutely delightful! Venus Williams gets right into the spirit of things. The Qld Reds Rugby Union Team used to have a dog (border collie?) who used to run on with some thingy needed in the game.

mita
I found a reference to the dog who used to carry on thingies for the Qld Reds Rugby team. Name was Bomber & it was back in the 1990s. But last year they added a new mascot dog, a red cattle dog puppy. Video here of the baby cutie being trained on the field. http://www.willowparkcattledogs.com/red--qld-reds-mascot.asp Edited January 9, 2015 by mita

RiverStar-Aura
I'd hate to be hitting those slobbery tennis balls around the court though? All that drool flying everywhere? I felt sad when the BC kept stealing the ball from the JRT!

Pattycake
LOL very cute, love the big brindle guy at the end. When my kids where younger we had a kelpie x Rocky, he loved the ball. When we were in the yard playing cricket if Rocky caught you, you were out :). He even used to return the ball to the batter lol

I do remember Bomber and he was brilliant, pity I can't find any video of him. After some pretty sad days recently, lovely to see such a nice video :)

Simply Grand
That's awesome :) I was thinking about the slobber too, they'd have to call new balls every time the big brindle boy got one
