denali
So, a while ago I saw a review one of my facebook friends put up about "Henry Hottie Heat Beds." I naturally was curious- i love spending money on my dogs- obvious if you look at all the dog paraphernalia (toys, collars, treats etc.) in my house I was impressed but not 100% convinced. Then someone else recommended them I figured "Fine. Ill give one a go." After all, Henry my rescue boy has dodgy hips and is always slow to get up after napping, and the others I try to prevent things as much as possible- so this would be good if it worked. Anyway- on day 2 of having one in my bedroom i woke up in the middle of the night and only one dog was on my bed. Two had chosen to sleep on the floor on it! They have never slept on the floor ever. Like ever. even in the middle of the summer when i would rather they sleep on the floor. I was at first shocked, then felt a little neglected and then was happy that i paid for something they actually use for once! I also noticed that morning that henry wasn't staggering when he got off the bed like usual! I was so happy I went and bought two more to replace our other beds. They aren't the cheapest things, but the dogs love them and they do seem to work. And a local rescue got my old beds :) Another big plus for me was they are Australian made in Brisbane- which i always try and support local business when possible. And they have some gorgeous covers that are changeable. You should all check them out- especially if you have older or arthritic dogs. Not enabling or anything ;) http://www.henryhottie.com/ Our beds: My second cover i bought. VizslaMomma
Hmmm, hmmm. If i thought Horrible Herbert would not destroy the bed, I could be enabled. Might ear-mark for his maturity. Thank you. :D

Jumabaar
I absolutely love these beds too!! I recommend them for all dogs with arthritis as a 'must' and most other dogs who like beds. They will also have a cool pad insert in the near future for dogs who like to curl up in cool spots! And yes also comfortable for humans who end up sharing the comfy bed with the dogs. But a properly designed thing would be nice. I know the small beds come with heat packs.
poochmad
They look very nice. I like the fact they can be hosed down and their cover washed. Hmm, might save the link when the dogs need new beds.
Little Gifts
I think they would be far nicer to sleep on than a self inflating mattress when I go camping!

juice
so did you have to pay extra to get the nice cover design? I think they look great, but wow, pricey!
JulesP
How is the inside bit hosed down? Does it have a water proof cover? I was washing beds yesterday and cursing what a pain it is!
juice
Any reason you cant just buy a Tontine quilt and put it in a regular dogbed cover?
denali
so did you have to pay extra to get the nice cover design? I think they look great, but wow, pricey! It appears you do if you buy through the website. I bought from a stockist where they stock all the fancy designs. They are pricey- but definitely worth it for Henry. Probably not something I would have bought if all my dogs were unaffected by arthritis. How is the inside bit hosed down? Does it have a water proof cover? I was washing beds yesterday and cursing what a pain it is! i feel you there! It is a pain. I havent had them long enough to wash yet- so dont know how easy it is- but they are covered with something on the inside. Any reason you cant just buy a Tontine quilt and put it in a regular dogbed cover? You could do that, but these are quite firm on the bottom. They do feel a bit like a human mattress in that they have a harder bit on the bottom and a soft fluffy bit on top. So i don't think you'd get the same affect with a quilt. But that would also be really comfy! Edit to fix quotes Edited December 13, 2014 by denali

Maybe foam and then quilt? That eggshell stuff or memory foam. I was thinking the same. A thick piece of the eggshell stuff would work quite well I imagine.
