fabel
Someone kindly gave me a bag of dog kibble, their dog died and they forgot they had it. 20 kilos. It has been opened for a few years apparently, but was closed up with staples. Still most of it left. But I am not sure if we should use it or not. I have looked closely and can't find a use by date. Should I use it?
Kajirin
Personally, I'd chuck it
Ivory & Beau
Most brands have about 18 months from date of manufacture.
Christina
Anything that lasts a few years can't be good for you, mean your dogs  yuk throw it away.
Danois
Dog food generally has a best before date of 12 months after manufacture. It may well be fine after this date however the BBD is the date until which a manufacturer will stand behind the nutrient claims it makes about the product i.e. after 12 months the nutritional qualities may start to degrade. Sandra777
It's meant to be food - how can it possibly be nutrious and healthy if it is a few years old. Ditch it!
disintegratus
If yours are like mine, i'd feed it out in treat balls etc, ie as an extra rather than as a staple. That said, mine would probably eat rocks if they looked like they'd been within 10km of food at any point! Mine eat a lot worse than nutritionally devoid "food" every time they get the opportunity! persephone
it will not be 'good' anymore - any oils will be rancid ..and nutrients depleted/gone.
Dave-o
100% throw it in the bin.
cavNrott
Please throw it out and don't even consider feeding it to your dog.
