brightstar123
Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone can recommend nice spots to walk in the bush with your dog near Sydney? Perhaps state forest walks? We are happy to make day trips or even an overnight from Sydney. Interesting swimming spots would also be great - at the moment we go to the massive dog-friendly beach near Port Kembla, which is lots of fun, but I don't know any river/lake/creek places. Both on/off leash places would be ok. We are keen to get a bit more off the beaten track and are sick of suburban pavements and crowded dog parks lol  Thanks for any suggestions! Tassie
There are some lovely places to walk around the Southern Highlands area - Bowral, Berrima, Moss Vale. Snakes will be a worry at this time of year, but there are some good wide paths. Can't remember the exact locations - but can remember one along a river near Moss Vale. (Could be Bong Bong Common, along the Wingecarribee River to Bowral. Edited December 8, 2014 by Tassie

DeltaCharlie
Biggest concerns this time of the year would be snakes and ticks. I used to take mine swimming at Emu Plain in a small runoff from the Nepean River. Its mostly open field and grass (I kept to the 4wd tracks) but it is a beautiful place and the dogs used to love it :)
