Yonjuro
My wife is originally from Kamchatka in far Eastern Russia where they run Russia’s oldest and longest sled dog race called the Beringia 950km - some races are done in traditional sleds. Here are some pics of her friend who races it. She thinks we are funny with what we feed our dogs, and laughs at Ronin's super high quality raw diet :D She was sniggering at my "pretty" dog until she saw him running and playing with Tigger the greyhound and then begrudgingly conceded "hm, okay, he good husky"

Kirislin
Great shots!! what do they feed their dogs?
Yonjuro
Thanks Bjelkier and Kirislin I will find out more about the diet but I believe it really depends on the hunting season but they keep the best bits for themselves - from what I gather it is a porridge like gruel with some salmon or other meat. It also depends on whether they are training or racing where they may need up to 5000 calories per day so there is quite a bit of fat when working. I think her friend has 18 dogs so this will have a bearing on how much meat they get. I will ask my wife to find out more.
Kirislin
the lead dog on the left in the blonde girl's team looks like a cross bred of some kind.

Yonjuro
Yeah, looks Agouti to me too. That said, crossbreeds are not uncommon in racing teams and heaven forbid I should mention but there is a likelihood of Laikas :D and others mixed in. Ah, that one does look quite different, it could be more laika or sibe or another mix, I will try and find out more.

Yonjuro
My wife's friend got back to us on the questions. Apparently the dog in question is half Northern Wolf and half Alaskan Husky! Regarding the feeding it is as I said a porridge with raw fish added. When racing they are on all raw fish apparently.
