Guest Ams
A lady I have met recently has a Keeshond who's coat is very matted. She is not willing to have it shaved. Can anyone recommend a groomer who would be prepared to strip the coat on this dog please? A preference would be South Brisbane area but any recommendations in the Greater Brisbane/Ipswich area would be welcome. pm is fine if you prefer. Thanks. Salukifan
If the coat is heavily matted it will be in the dogs best interests to have it shaved. It would be hell on the dog otherwise. She should take the dog to an experienced groomer and seek their advice.

If anyone is able to recommend an experienced groomer who could sway her thinking then I will pass on their details.
aliwake
I don't know if they do stripping, but I've used nose 2 tail in Westlake for baths, and they have a very professional setup. http://nose2tail.com.au/ Would be worth giving them a call. Guest Ams
Thank you aliwake. I have a few options to give her now. The details have been passed to her so she can maybe talk to a few different ones and see if dematting is an option or not.
Yonjuro
If it was me I would get a matt breaker, an undercoat rake with rotating teeth, a helper and a heap of tiny treats and do a small section each day for over a couple of weeks. Target a section and have someone feed the little treats while one person works on a small section. It will take patience but better for the dog in the long run. If she were able to do that the dog wouldn't have matts in the first place. She has the equipment.

Dogsfevr
Well the knots wouldn't have appeared over night so i gather another Keeshond owner that waits till its desperate & then does the oh no don't clip line frustrates me no end as a groomer what people want & the pain the expect the dog to go through because they haven't brushed it or got on top of it earlier , Advice to sway her ,the pain the dog will go through due to her not looking after her dog . We have clipped lots of Keeshonds off because the knots where so bad no decent dog loving groomer would put the dog through it . Having said that without seeing the coat it may be suitable to brush through but i wouldn't do it in one hit as it irriates the skin badly doing a massive groom out in a few hrs plus chances are the dog isn't trained to be brushed so it becomes hard work on all

She has, up until recently, been able to do it herself. Thanks to suggestions I have sourced two groomers both of whom are willing to look at the dog and give advice as to whether it is possible to brush it out or whether she will have to get it clipped. She has indicated she does not want the dog to suffer and will allow a clip if it can't be groomed out. In all likelihood she would probably have clipped sooner if not given the advice not to do so. Thank you all for your advice.
