piper
This time a month ago I would have just been arriving home from 2 weeks in Singapore. Had a great time and took loads of photos. Not as many nice "scenic" photos as I would have liked. There were big fires in Indonesia and the smoke blows across Singapore causing terrible pollution. These are some of my favourites. Around Singapore marina area I love the old vs new in this 1. Gardens by the Bay and the Super Trees It made me think of Avatar when we walked through the giant trees at night This puts the size of the trees into perspective. piper
Singapore Zoo - I love the generous size exhibits they have. Especially the Orangutans. These guys are natives and not zoo exhibits. The Zoo sits on a reservoir and they come and go from there. They are related to Komodo Dragons but not as big. Not a brilliant photo but we gave it a wide berth when we saw it on the path. Some idiots were going right up close for photos. 1 even pushed her baby in a pram right next to it, left it there and stepped back to take a photo with her phone. Another wild native animal So many Babboons! Over 80 in the community. Free ranging Orangs
piper
Jurong Bird Park. I loved the free flying birds of prey show with 4 Brahminy Kites being flown simultaneously. And not just a short token flight - they were out for ages and mostly doing their own thing. Toucan!
piper
River Safari. Loved the Spider Monkey exhibit. You actually enter the exhibit an they are ranging all around you. They are SO fast!! Crab Eating Macaques - they are incredible to watch swim. "No photos please" I had no idea Otters could be so big - these are over 1m long. Lots more pics here https://www.flickr.com/photos/8799389@N04/ Edited November 13, 2014 by piper

piper
Thanks. I went a bit nuts with photos. River Safari is awesome to - it is an off shoot to the zoo and very new. It is based around major river systems of the world, lots of underwater exhibits and the best thing was CLEAN glass and good covered walkways so minimal glare/reflection. I saw at least 4 staff walking around constantly cleaning viewing windows. The domes at the gardens were also incredible and I loved the Super Trees. We missed the big light show they do every night - got there just towards the end of it. I could have spent hours under there at night, it was such a different feeling, really like being in another world.

Dave-o
When I see photos of Singapore I'm amazed, but all I can remember about being there was being too hot and sweating constantly. I went to the zoo at night hoping it would be cooler, alas no. Then again, I went there from an English climate so perhaps wasn't prepared. Great photos
piper
The zoo and night safari seem to be more humid than anywhere else we went. I guess it is the fact you are in a forest on the edge of a large body of water that adds to it.
CrazyCresties
Wow, looks like you had an amazing time! Love the Brahminy Kites, such beautiful birds, and amazing to see the Macaques swimming!
