pebbles
Abby, Silky Terrier, bites at her nails. There's never any damage, just a bit of spit around the foot. Never seems to be any trigger to this, doesn't matter if her nails have got a bit long or just cut. I think it annoys me more than her, hearing the click, click as she nibbles them. Anyone else have this happening and any idea why?
tdierikx
My Zeddy chews her nails too... means I don't have to trim them... bonus! She even does her own dew claws... *grin* T.
Chana Fuller
You have to consult the doctor for this habit of nail biting.as per i know the probable reason may be the lack of nutrition in the body.
Steph M
Not sure that's 100% accurate, Chana. Lots of dogs do it and aren't lacking in nutrition. My own do it from time to time.

One of mine does it too and she is certainly not lacking in nutrition! My older boy does it also from time to time too when he has been walking on newly cut grass. pebbles
Since I've put this post up I don't think Abby has nibbled her nails again - maybe I embarrassed her lol. Just an annoying habit I guess.
OSoSwift
I know of dogs that have done it, all appeared to have good diets, no pain or irritation they just nibbled on the end of the nails.
