Kelp

Recommended Posts

While cleaning out my cupboards I have found a big bag of dried kelp powder, it's probably about 18 months old but has been stored away in a sealed plastic bag in the dark cupboard. I remember I bought it for my sheep to make up a lick and obviously never got round to using it. From memory it was quite expensive and I should put it to good use. Can I feed some to the dogs as an additive in their food? Has anyone else used kelp and what were the benefits? How much should I use?

Or does anyone else know any other good uses for it...

Garden fertilizer..

Yes, feed to dogs and you! It's high in iodine which the thyroid needs to regulate hormones and balance metabolism.

Take some yourself!

Lots of benefits with kelp. As said, it's high in iodine so good for the thyroid, but it's also good for digestion, rich in iron so good for the blood and immune system.

Apparently it's also good for warding off fleas...
