Loving my Oldies
I have been asked if the worst came to the worst I would consider a feeding tube for my dog Danny. I have said no. But I wonder if I were presented that option as the only one, whether I would change my mind. Does anyony have any experiences??
persephone
Only ever tube fed pups - in a previous life . That was just inserting and removing a tube each time ...
Loving my Oldies
But that would have been done just to get them going so they could go on to lead happy and healthy lives ??

persephone
DDD- I don't have any other experience, as I would never consider it - unless it was for a few days post surgery...
The Spotted Devil
DDD- I don't have any other experience, as I would never consider it - unless it was for a few days post surgery... Same. The problem is that not eating usually indicates an underlying issue. So sorry you even have to think about this possibility
tdierikx
Who would it be being done for if it was a permanent only option? The terms "quality" and "quantity" come to mind... However - if he wasn't overly stressed at having this option happening, then it would be worth considering for a short while to give you more time to come to terms with maybe having to give him his wings sooner rather than later. My thoughts go out to you and the little man... please give him a soft cuddle and kiss from me... T.
Loving my Oldies
Thanks everyone. You have all confirmed my initial response (I left out the horror I felt at the time I was asked).
persephone
A horrible time for you- let your experience guide you.
Loving my Oldies
I've not had any experience of this, persephone. Each little dog decides to do things differently. I've given an update in my other thread in General.
