Kirislin
somewhere in Port Phillip, or Westernport bay. I dont want to go to Brighton, been there, had an awful experience. I know alot of beaches are now closed to dogs but I'd love to find one still open that's quiet.

Kirislin
Altona is supposed to be quite good... http://doggo.com.au/burns-reserve-altona-dog-beach/ I've been there and I liked it, I probably should have said on the East side of Melbourne though, Altona and getting through the city makes it less appealing for me, but thankyou. Leah82
we've been to carrum a few times and it's nice. It used to be onleash between 10AM and 7.30PM but looking into it now seems to have changed to no dogs during those times Looks like they have developed a new off leash area in mentone though, might be worth checking out http://www.kingston.vic.gov.au/Local-Laws-Waste/Local-Laws/Pets/Dog-Ownership/Dog-Access-to-Foreshore-Reserve "]http://www.kingston.vic.gov.au/Your-Council/Media-Public-Notices-and-Publications/Media-Releases/Summertime-dog-beach-rules

Thanks for this info, probably why I couldn't find it anymore on the website.

megan_
Ricketts point. I've had mostly good experiences there. I wouldn't go to a popular dog beach - too many idiots . If you go early ricketts point is really nice and not crowded.
Steph M
I love Altona! I'd be up for a tour one day if you like. Not a beach but warrandyte river is fabulous too.

Kirislin
I didn't go today but I might go on Friday, it's forecast to be 28. You're sure dogs are allowed off leash there at this time of year? I'm assuming little greyhounds (IGs) aren't the right kind to go to the Howloween party
Pretty Miss Emma
I thought Ricketts Point was all on leash. I haven't been, but I hear good things about Somers Beach. I'm going to try to coerce some friends to take me and the dogs in the enar future!! I've also heard the one in Mt Eliza at the end of Canadian Bay Rd is good it's just a bit of a trek from road to beach.
silentchild
I found Ricketts Point very rocky, not sure now if I went to the right beach? I am still struggling to find a quiet beach this side of Melbourne.
Kirislin
we went to 2 beaches today and had a great time, but geeze the council signage is confusing. I'd looked on a website and found that Flinders is off leash but when I got there it said it was on leash from daylight savings. Then I went to Carrum, I'd already phoned them yesterday to confirm the beach is 24 hr off leash. Yes but only from Osprey lane she tells me. When I got there the first sign did indeed say 24 hour off leash all year or words to that effect, but once on the beach it said it's on leash! so I did a bit of both. Cosmolo
Rickets Point is my favourite too- from the jetty to the right of the cafe all the way down past the yacht club is 24/ 7 off lead permitted. Lovely place to go :)
JulesP
I've only been to Ricketts once but did enjoy it. I would class it as fairly busy though. And I bumped into Megan and Cosmolo there  Blairgowrie is nice but further away of course. But it didn't take me heaps longer to get there as you are on a freeway the whole way. I didn't enjoy the drive to Ricketts. Blairgowrie is, I think, offlead until December. Then it turns into offlead until noon. It is in the flyer that Hazywal put up. I love Rye too but that is now offleash until 9.00am so depends on how early you like to get up.

Flinders Beach between Dodds Creek & Manton Creek is offlead all year round. I'm near there and Somers, but don't go to either lol
