Dave-o
I contacted Ivory Coat to ask about their foods, and directly inquired about the high level of protein. They replied within a few hours, and their response was well informed and in keeping with my thoughts. This is what they said about the protein: There is no actual evidence to suggest that high protein leads to kidney damage' date=' the initial research some time ago that suggested this has been dis-proven. For dogs with pre-exisitng issues or inactive senior dogs we do also have a food that is just 32% protien and 10% fat for them. We believe a mix of quality meat proteins, fruit and vegetables is the best diet for dogs. Low protein foods are of course cheaper to manufacture, as is seeking protein from corn or by-products. We believe in putting the dogs nutrition before profits by formulating not better foods, but the best available foods. [/quote'] It's an expensive food, but you get what you pay for. Well thought out ingredients, even down to flax and salmon oil which shows they've selected decent ingredients throughout.
