melzawelza
Hi guys, Team Dog is running workshops aimed at first time foster carers, or carers that could benefit for a little more information to help move the dogs in their care and prepare them for adoption. There are three practical workshops, held at Renbury, and a theory held at Campbelltown Library. If any groups feel this could be beneficial to your carers please feel free to let them know about them. We've priced them very competitively to hopefully make them accessible to most. Practical 2 has sold out and there's only one more spot left at practical 1, so the quicker they book the less likely they are to miss out :) The last practical also has four handler positions still available at this point, for people to bring a foster dog along with some behaviours they might be having trouble with. They need to email us with the behaviours they need help with and we'll let them know if the dog is appropriate (don't want to double up on issues). Foster Carer Workshops $26.00 Team Dog is excited to present a series of workshops for current and would-be foster carers, aimed at developing skills in dog selection, body language, safe handling, and basic behaviour modification. From clicker training to puppy raising – we’ve got everything to get you started as a first time foster carer or to develop on the skills you’ve already learnt. Choose just the sessions that suit you or come along to all of them – your choice. Sessions run by Melanie Isaacs of Team Dog and Vicki Karoubas of Symmetry Dog Training. Both hold a Cert III in Dog Training and Behaviour with the National Dog Trainers Federation and have had extensive practical experience with both rescue and foster caring. PRACTICAL ONE What we'll do: We’ll take you through the kennels and take different dogs out in order to talk about their attributes. What you'll learn: How to read the body language of the dogs both inside and outside of the kennel, how to safely handle the dogs and how to choose a suitable foster dog for your home. There will be a Q & A at the end. Cost: $26 pp Where: Renbury Farm When: 5th October, 2.15pm arrival for a 2.30 start. End time approximately 3.30pm Additional: Maximum of 12 attendees PRACTICAL TWO / SOLD OUT! THEORY What we'll do: Hold an informal lecture on a variety of topics relating to fostering. What you'll learn: How to raise a confident and happy puppy. How to increase the adoptability of foster dogs. Have your questions answered about common behavioural issues. Cost: $16 pp Where: Campbelltown Library When: 2nd November, 11 am - 12.30pm. PRACTICAL THREE What we'll do: Some pre-selected carers will bring their own dogs. We will have a group/hands on lesson with dogs in foster care with various behaviours that need improvement. What you'll learn: How to encourage wanted behaviours and discourage unwanted ones. Some such behaviours include walking on lead, jumping up etc, and basic ‘manners’ training. There will be a Q&A at the end. Cost: $26 pp ($30 handler position) Where: Renbury Farm When: 16th November, 2.15 pm for a 2.30 start. End time approximately 3.30pm Additional: Maximum of 12 attendees If you'd like to bring your foster dog along please email us at [email protected] describing the behaviours your dog shows that you would like advice with during the session. There are only five handler positions available and we will choose dogs that have varying behaviours for the benefit of other attendees.
