Gretel
I'm looking after a Cavalier at the moment. He had his anal glands removed when he was young, he's 9 now. According to the instructions his owner has left he has 1 tablespoon of Metamucil daily mixed with water. That seems a lot to me. I gave it to him this morning and he just picked the dry food out of it. I have emailed her but thought I'd ask in here too. I think she'll be checking her email. Ranga
That does sound like a lot of Metamucil for a small dog Maybe if the owner doesn't get back to you, look at the directions on the pack and dose accordingly? I have used it on a toy poodle who weighs 3 kilos and only gave her about a quarter of a teaspoon dry mixed in with some 'wet' food.
VizslaMomma
I wonder if there is an error in the abbreviation or did the owner write tablespoon in full? I do hope they respond for YOUR sake.
Gretel
I got a reply to my email. They do give him 1 tablespoon but said he doesn't always finish it. I gave him a teaspoon on his breakfast this morning and put water over it. He ate that. I'll do the same with his tea. I'd so like to change this dogs diet but he's only here for two weeks so I'll be good.
