help - there are masses of prickly things around, and the dogs are all sore footed. there are also lots of tiny burrs which adhere to socks/lycra, etc ...and are incredibly painful on legs/skin.

this is one called 'cannonball' - gets to be 1cm diameter -- and very hard. It lodges between toes/pads ..and makes life very painful :(

This is "copperburr"

Here is a link for Manmat boots which are used by many mushers, these are probably a good option that are reasonably priced. Ruffwear make some very sturdy types and should be available at quite a few local retailers.

If you wanted to shop offshore there are numerous options available.

the all weather muttluks look promising , thankyou. At least they have leather!

LOL

they don't have fleece, or padding or fiddly fasteners - all a big plus!

A review I read said they were the "Mercedes Benz" of dog boots. :D

The problem is none of these breathe which means the dog can't wear them for long periods. I have been looking for something that is at least semi waterproof (or fast drying, offers cushioning for a sore foot and can be left on for 10hrs. No luck yet

..at least leather is a help . Unfortunately, boots are most often made for cold/damp conditions :(

  • All Weather Muttluks provide protection for hot or cold climate conditions. Protects paws from hot pavement, hot sand, burrs, ice, snow or salt.
  • Self-tightening straps provide a secure fit. Reflective straps for nighttime visibility
  • Genuine leather soles for a soft flexible fit. Comfortable adjustable stretchy leg cuff
  • Machine washable.
