Anyone have a dog that has problem ears due to allergies?

How quickly do you find that the dog reacts after it has eaten a problem substance? Within a day, within a week or does it takes longer to build up?

Jules - not ears specifically…

I have discovered that Em can't have dry food containing corn. She scratches and scratches within 12 hours of eating it and stops scratching within 24 hours of taking it out of her diet. However, one of my cats has been on Z/D for a month as she started madly plucking her fur out. I am introducing single protein sources in addition to her Z/D - she started having a chicken neck for dinner on Monday but this will continue for a month before we decide whether there is a problem or not. Lilly's diet hasn't changed and this is sudden onset - not uncommon I'm told.

Skin & tummy allergies I know a fair bit about. Just trying to work out how quickly the ears can produce yucky gunk.

With the Vizslas, about one week.

Overall ours would shake their 'sore' ear long beofre anything becamse obvious.

If we ignored those signals, then after one week, a check would show gunk happening.

The new Vizsla has a tendency to get 'bad ears'. That is partly from his going swimming.

Since I got the calendula tea from Steve I have had less problems.
