Little Gifts
I never used to talk to dogs much until Tempeh came along. Sure I used to sing to my foster dogs, was into "good boy/girl" and random nicknames but Tempeh constantly asks lots of questions and has to know what is happening all the time and talking back seems to calm her. Last year I noticed myself regularly saying "Tempeh, look at mummy" before going on to explain to her what was happening that day. She seemed to pay attention and understand. And she got the nickname Doodle Bug which she is now called more than her real name. But this year things have gotten worse. "What's wrong my love?" "Does Doodlie-Bug want a cud-cud (cuddle)?" "Give mummy kisses!" are all falling out of my mouth! It's embarrassing! And I whip out my phone at every opportunity to show other dog lovers my 'kids'. I've turned into the kind of owner that used to make me cringe! Has anyone else developed this disease? Is there a cure?
Vehs
hah, it's constant around here. and I think I realized I loved my fiance's dog when he got his own voice ;-) <-- yes, they reply to me and they are VERY honest. don't keep photos on the phone though
Little Gifts
You may only be in the early stages of this insidious disease Vehs! I used to have concert and nights out photos on my phone and now it is full of dogs! Some of them aren't even mine!
Vehs
I think having a poor camera on the phone is the only thing keeping me safe atm! haha
denali
Im not so much into the "give mummy kisses" nor do i call myself their mummy. BUT i do talk to them about what i am doing, talk about their brekkie and brushing, and I have 1,300 photos on my phone and i would say 95% of them are dogs. The other 5% either sunsets, clouds or food  ETA, yesterday at the dog grooming salon I work at, a lady wanted to buy her dog a bed, her dog was in being groomed and she was like "do you think she'd rather the pink, or the orange?" I just laughed and said i would go ask her if she wanted  She went with black and white spotted in the end. HazyWal
I live alone so my only conversation outside of the check out person or the guy in the Shell garage is the dogs, I don't really have anyone else to talk to lol. MsKatie
I talk to my 2 pretty constantly - usually stupid stuff like "Yes I know you hate having things stuck in your ears but you know how yukky they were - I know it's not nice but sometimes we just have to suck it up" I wonder what the neighbours think sometimes :)
BC Crazy
I talk to my 2 all the time. Just like I would a person , probably more. Anything from " have I told you how beautiful you are today" to " what would you like for dinner darlings" & everything in between. It is starting to worry Mr BCC as I have actually started to answer myself....hmmm LOL. Edited July 26, 2014 by BC Crazy
dotdashdot
I ask them "Who's a beautiful Clee-Flea/Nala-poo" or just "hey flea/Poo" I also explain to them why it's naughty of them if they break before I say "ok" for dinner.
Dame Aussie
Yep, I ask them how their day was, if they were noisy while I was out, what they're having for dinner, where we're going for walkies etc etc etc
Chequeredblackdog
Yep. I talk to my guys constantly. Whole conversations they all have their own voices. I also seems to end up doing running commentaries when at the dog park etc. I didn't realise how much until a couple of people commented they they think I'm hilarious and really enjoy listening to me! lol. cavNrott
I also live alone and talk to my dogs all the time. Bronson, my boy Cavalier, is very polite and gives me his undivided attention. Dana, my girl Cavalier, is stone deaf and couldn't give a rats what I'm rattling on about. If she's looking at me and can see I'm speaking she wags her tail. westiemum
I Live alone and I've just asked mine if they would like roo tails for breakfast! I've also told Mac what lovely doggie kisses he gives and that he's a good boy he was for letting me know he needed to go outside! (Doesn't always happen!). Last night I had quite a conversation with Andy after he was asked to be a model for his favourite groomer at the Adelaide Royal Show because he stands so beautifully !! I was so proud of him - not bad for an unsocialised rescue dog!

Nic oh lah
I have huge conversations with my dogs, and my OH and I are just as bad as each other - we kinda narrate our dogs while they're playing doing each of their voices. Even if people are around.
Pjrt
I feel a bit stupid after I say 'stay there' to Gruf when I am walking away from him locked in his crate in the car. yeah, like I could go anywhere even! I always say "can you please TRY and behave?" when I walk away from the car. Stan always lays down when I duck into the shop and Maddie frantically searches out of every window looking for me, she usually treads on him which results in a loud telling off by Stan. I can hear them in the shop
Loving my Oldies
I thought everyone did talk to their dogs lol Me too  I have huge conversations with my dogs, and my OH and I are just as bad as each other - we kinda narrate our dogs while they're playing doing each of their voices. Even if people are around. Oh that sounds like you are all having so much fun ... and what could be better? I regularly tell my dogs as I go out the door that I won't be long and then tell myself off for telling them little porkies.
