Kobi'sDaisy
Hey guys, Does anyone have recommendations for a groomer in the Canberra area? We have a vizsla who has never really had his nails done. Our old house had a lot of concrete and they used to wear down naturally. As their nails are quite hard and black I was looking for someone who would grind rather than cut. Any help would be great :)
Salukifan
My recommendation would be to buy a Dremel and learn to do it yourself. It really isn't that difficult and doing a little often would be better than an occasional trip to the groomer.
Kobi'sDaisy
Thanks Haredown, that's the plan long term, was hoping to get someone to get the ball rolling
WreckitWhippet
you might be better off introducing the dremel to your dog yourself in a calm relaxed environment at your own pace. If the dog is already touchy when it comes to nails, a groomer plus the dremel isn't going to be stress free.
Kobi'sDaisy
Thanks guys, seems like I just need to get over it and buy the tools! I was in Bunnings today and saw an ozito one fr a lot cheaper. Does it pay to go with a dremel or will another brand still do the job?
Queen Maeby
I was just going to say, you can buy them and do it yourself. That's what I do. I'm sorry, I have only ever used a Dremel; I'm not sure what the others are like.
Airedaler
You can use any rotary tool. the dremel is possibly smaller than most. I use one I bought from Aldi for $24. It is bigger but has a flexible "thing" so the tool itself can be hung on the table and the tool still comfortably used. I guess my ultimate tool would be a cordless dremel but the one I have works just as well. The otizo would be fine. Bunnings used to sell a Medallion Hobby Engraver for about $15. It was rechargeable and although larger than the Dremel worked like a dream.
denali
A lot of greyhound owners in the QLD facebook group use the ozito rotary grinder :)
