Sparden
Hi, can you recommend anyone to build the below dog pen I sketched up? The current quote has been $1750 for L 4m, W 2.3m H 2.1m at gable peak. Made from colourbond and galvanized steel tube frame. There may be cheaper DIY solutions out there, but I'm after something that is pre made. WreckitWhippet
That sounds pretty good to me for the size and what you want.
Queen Maeby
That is awesome (and you're a good drawer). I've added it to my favourites in case I ever need a dog pen. Thanks! :)

Sparden
Hi Esky the husky, I'm in contact with people on eBay and Gumtree. Thanks for the thought though.

Sparden
I found a timber enclosure while searching the interweb. At $2670 only the best for your dog. http://www.petenclosure.com.au/dog-runs-enclosure-with-timber-house-roof-over-all.html

Sparden
WreckitWhippet is there anything I should consider in my design? What features do you like the most?
WreckitWhippet
The quality of the mesh and making sure that it's strong and also that it's welded properly and no sharp edges. Make sure that your mesh run does not have the metal sitting on the slab and that it's in legs of some kind and you can hose it out easily. Roof your entire run, it's tempting to cut costs there but in the end the dogs are much happier if they can use the full run in all weather. ETA: insulate the roof and walls if you can. We have the inside insulated with that foam and then covered in the silver insulation on the roll and the run parts are done with the silver roll. Also think about where the sun is going to go and face it so it's warm in winter and shaded in summer. Position outdoor blinds to help control the sun Edited June 21, 2014 by WreckitWhippet
Queen Maeby
I would definitely have a doggie door. Is it better to have concrete or grass for the 'floor'?
WreckitWhippet
grass is useless in a run , unless the run is sufficiently large enough, the dogs wear it down and it never recovers. Concrete is easy to clean and maintain cleanliness.
persephone
Sparden - I like your design , esp the offset dog door , raised bottom mesh edge , and strong looking padbolt door :)
