I wish I could find the other article. But that's not what really happened according to onlookers....

I read the other side of the story too but can't find it now either. The guy said that what really happened was that some other young children in the KFC restaurant were staring at the little girl and the grandmother got angry and demanded KFC staff throw those children out. Staff refused and when the grandmother got aggressived they asked her to leave.

I just had a look at the Go Fund Me Site and the family of that little girl are able to 'withdraw' at any time and take all the money donated to them :mad

Now if they were legitimate would they not wait until they reached their goal? Instead now that people are questioning their credibility they withdrew all the money that was donated. I smell a scam :mad

Yep, there's a lot of those sites who make it so easy to look legit and run a campaign. There is no clear advice to donors that nobody is watching the money.

The hosting site takes a % out of every withdrawal and have no responsibility when it turns out to be a scam.

fyi Anyone giving online, make sure the site only takes registered charities. e.g GiveNow.com.au

I'm sure the kfc incident was a scam, but hopefully the money will truly be used to help the little girl with her treatment, in which case it's still a very worthy cause I think. She shouldn't have to suffer for her family's poor judgement (in so many ways!!)

I think what gets forgotten is the damage to the business, reputation and emotional wellbeing of the fanchisee owner and the staff of that store. I suspected a hoax or beat up from the first word I read on this, and it is disgraceful if it is - as much as I feel for the child, and I do, the parents should be held to account for every dollar of lost business and good will. Imagine being the poor staff member accused of that.
