kelpiecuddles
Don't know if this has already been discussed but just found this interesting news report as a link when i was reading something else. Talks about a new treatment for Parvo being developed in the states: Early tests performed on about 50 puppies in seven US states for Grand Forks-based Avianax have resulted in a 90 per cent cure rate for canine parvovirus, Avianax chief operating officer Richard Glynn hopes to start selling the parvoONE antibody-based treatment - that is, harvested from the yokes of goose eggs - for $75 a dose by next spring. https://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/world/a/24065661/promising-cure-for-puppies-parvo/
Steph M
That's huge! As long as people keep vaccinating as well!
Guest Ams
I heard that on the news this afternoon as I was driving home. Wouldn't it be lovely if it is true.

kelpiecuddles
I agree although my first thought was, "What will do with all the pups/dogs that survive?" It's already so hard to place rescue animals, with a higher success rate for parvo treatment things will get even harder. That's not to say I don't think we should treat them of course but it's an interesting flow on affect...
Alyosha
Would need an Australian company to pick the ball up and conduct scientific trials and seek registration for the drug/s here under our conditions etc.
kelpiecuddles
I just looked and that company has in the past had products tested and patented in Aus so very doable, especially since it would be very commercially viable as a product.
tdierikx
As someone who lost a litter of rescue pups to Parvo last year, this news is gold! Fingers crossed that it becomes an affordable treatment here in Australia... T.
