Nekhbet
Only for $115 O_o dogs need to be out learning practically and so do their owners. A generation of internet pooches is developing too now.
sheena
I would guess that "online education for pooches" would be far better than no education. I agree that they need to get out there & socialise & I don't think that doing online courses means that owners are not getting out there amongst others. Quite the opposite...if they can teach their pup good manners at home, than they will be much more confident when they take them out. Kelly & Katrina use only positive reinforcement training methods, which has got to be a good thing. Wish I had a pup.....I would be doing the course. I don't think a person can ever stop learning, & it's cheap enough. :)
Nekhbet
I can imagine the advice you can get is freely available everywhere on the internet. If you need that much help you should spend that money on a good trainer so they can pick up your mistakes. Reading is one thing, being shown is another. Of course it's positive, pop word of the 21st century.
Vickie
I would highly recommend this course. I have never had anything to do with Katrina, but Kelly is, without a doubt, one of the best dog trainers I know. If the course shows people to raise puppies even half as confident and consistently well trained as Kelly's puppies are then you can't go wrong. Thankyou Vickie as I said ...I wish I had a pup so I could join in. It sounds like fun as well as being informative :)
Leah82
there have been soooooo many comments on this forum about puppy schools being a free for all with little to no training. This sounds like a fantastic alternative for people that can't afford, or are too far away from more professional training schools I wish I had a puppy too :D

This sounds like a fantastic alternative for people that can't afford, or are too far away from more professional training schools I wish I had a puppy too :D Kelly is a great trainer & instructor. After my last experience with a puppy pre-school...I would never go to one again. I would rather do something like this in my own time & socialise my pup as I see fit & with whom I see fit. Not to mention 2 hours travel to go to one

PAX
This course will be amazing as Kelly has so much success in Obedience competitions and Agility. Puppy owners couldn't go wrong. Online support and feedback makes it so easy:)If you ever have the opportunity to meet Kelly's dogs, the Wonder dogs, you will have no hesitations, just awesome. Law
Have to agree with Nekhbet. $115 would get you nearly 8 one hour classes where I go. Hands on personalized knowledge from some of the best. I got my new pup last Saturday & started taking him to training Sunday morning, I could teach him everything at home sure but it's such a great opportunity for socialisation. To me socialisation is the most important thing to be doing with a puppy, commands can come later but you'll never get the critical period back again. lovemesideways
I think it looks really interesting, would love to see the results. If you're in a area where there is a well run puppy class then yes thats a better option I think (though who says you can't do both ;)!). A good puppy class is sadly few and far in between though, this is an option for everyone, no matter where you're located. Kelly has some fantastic dogs with real results, and certainly knows what shes talking about!
alpha bet
Have to also agree with Nekhbet.... expensive waste of time.... people learning how to train a living creature from a TV show, Youtube or Online Course is absolutely no acceptable alternative to a hands on situation. Often people feel they have spent the money and done the program and feel they dont need to go further.... The results is just a money making excercise - if they have 100 sign up they have made themselves over $10,000 for four week sessions.... they can re-run these sessions again and again racking in the dough...... Courses for owners and also for people wishing to become dog trainers now being offered in the States are totally out of hand.... some are $1,000's - very common to see "one week full time course for just $2,500 - only 12 places available".....sheese! Are we now becoming a world were our phones rule our day and any learning without the aid of an Ipad must be second rate.......? The whole idea of having a dog is to actually remember how to connect with nature... get out in the sun/rain/wind... get dirty and have some fun..... For some of us who lives regionally and I have also in remote Australia previously, these sort online courses, forums and online streams have opened up a whole new world. We don't all live in urban areas with easy access to a range of different training approaches. There aren't even any certified dog trainers in my town, just volunteers with good intentions. The course in the OP seems like a nice course for someone to do with their puppy, it's not a thousand dollar dog trainer course!

If I had a puppy now I would be doing this course. Not only is Kelly an awesome trainer, she is a genuinely nice person who has achieved amazing results with her dogs! Lots of people are doing online courses for dog sports and have found them beneficial. Plenty of online courses involve you having to video your progress which is a great idea and makes it more interactive. I think its a great opportunity for lots of people to learn from the best when they wouldn't otherwise be able to. As with most things in life, you get out as much as you put in, I think this applies to all methods of dog training, online or in person.

I have done some online dog training courses and I loved them! They were very useful! Video instructions mean you can watch them several times to see the mechanics of what the trainers are doing, and all of the ones I have done have had a fantastic support network to help with troubleshooting. Vickie
1400225603' post='6484722']Have to also agree with Nekhbet.... expensive waste of time.... Expensive? Lets see, what does $115 buy you? A premium bag of puppy food? An unnecessary 3rd puppy vaccination? A plush new (chewed) bed? Soft (chewed) crate? I'd rather spend my $115 getting a program, feedback & support from someone who has a reputation for raising outstanding, stable & balanced puppies. 1400225603' post='6484722']The results is just a money making excercise - if they have 100 sign up they have made themselves over $10,000 for four week sessions.... they can re-run these sessions again and again racking in the dough...... From someone who has written a program, had multiple phone/email conversations to organise class, conducted class, reviewed homework, provided feedback and then offered & provided ongoing support afterwards, trust me, the hourly rate, when all that is taken into account, is actually extremely low! huski
There are plenty of trainers around that offer classes and lessons in person but not every trainer is created equal and if online courses can give people in more remote areas, or people who would otherwise not have access to such experienced and reputable trainers that is hardly a bad thing. Online courses are just another way of getting good information and resources to dog owners who may not otherwise have that information or access to it. When I did the training in drive distance learning package with daisy there was no one in my area who offered anything close to what I got out of it and none of the local trainers or obedience clubs I had been to got me the results I did all via email, feedback on YouTube videos etc. Anything that gives owners more ability to learn and improve their knowledge and skill is a good thing IMO! I must be doing things wrong.... I can't find a training class /have a disability ... perhaps a course such as this would help them and their pup :) Edited May 17, 2014 by persephone
