bianca.a
Old post http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/240927-10-month-old-gsd-with-severe-hip-dysplasia/page__st__90 So today I took Coop back to the specialist for xrays and the verdict is he will have his another Total Hip Replacement this time on his left hip. They have to work out a time slot but it should be in the next few weeks. I knew this was coming but still am totally devastated. He is only 2 1/2  Todays xrays Edited May 8, 2014 by bianca.a
BC Crazy
Jesus so sorry bianca Poor Coop is a young fella to be having a hip replacement but obviously much needed. Even when you know that he may well of needed another opp. It would still be awful news to face bianca. Thoughts are with you at this stressful time. Good luck.Keep us posted. BC Crazy
I just had a better look at his Xray.Geez that left hip must painful for him. Poor fella My boy will have to have his done as well if his arthitis gets the better of him. With him the actual ball of the hip joint looks like it is deteriorating but it is still sitting in place thus far thankfully. Out of interest Bianca is your boys condition genetic? I have seen a few shep's with hip issues. Edited May 8, 2014 by BC Crazy
cavNrott
Goodness, his left hip is in very poor shape. He'll feel much happier once he recovers from the THR surgery. The R hip looks brillant after his previous surgery. How awful that this boy is only 2 1/2yo and his hips are in such bad shape. So sorry you are both going through this. Let us know when he's booked in for his next surgery.
bianca.a
Thank you so much for your kind words ((hugs)) No not genetic, his breeder does all the possible health testing and his sire had 0/0, dam 2/4 (I think from memory)and further back no bad hips at all in his pedigree. It was just really bad luck for my poor pup. The surgeon was thrilled with how good the implants are after a year so that's a positive. He's just had a shitty life and has never been able to just be a puppy. Thank you again.
