temperamentfirst
My bitch had open pyo. Over three days the symptoms included her generally being flat, then straining as tho constipated. Then a small discharge, then she cried, and later howled. we had been to the vet and ultrasound showed no swelling, and he said he didn't want to operate overnight. I should have listened to my gut, as she went thru so much pain that night. Next morning she was quiet, but again my gut screamed and i went straight to the vet. Vet took one look and said she was going into shock. She had emergency desexing within 30 minutes. It was open pyo with very little swelling. Thank Dog for Marilyn Gill! espinay2
Have not had one yet - touch wood. But I did have a bitch desexed at 6 years of age whose uterus was 'spongy' and showing signs of Cystic endometrial hyperplasia, which significantly increases the chance of Pyo. There is a high chance if she had remained intact she would have developed it.
