tdierikx
Sunday at Taronga - the weather was horrible - cold and wet... but it made for less people, less glare on the glass, and more active animals that usually hide away when it's hot... Tiger falling out of a tree... lol! 27-04-2014-taronga 037 by tdierikx, on Flickr Bruiser the Lion leaping onto his platform... 27-04-2014-taronga 156 by tdierikx, on Flickr The elusive Fishing Cat 27-04-2014-taronga 421 by tdierikx, on Flickr Fergus the Pygmy Hippo 27-04-2014-taronga 598 by tdierikx, on Flickr Otters 27-04-2014-taronga 764 by tdierikx, on Flickr A cheeky Elephant 27-04-2014-taronga 1237 by tdierikx, on Flickr Willow the Orangutan - who NEVER comes outside! 27-04-2014-taronga 1597 by tdierikx, on Flickr Willow's male counterpart Jantan 27-04-2014-taronga 1751 by tdierikx, on Flickr ... but Kwikila wasn't sharing her baby with us... *sigh* 27-04-2014-taronga 2038 by tdierikx, on Flickr ... more at... persephone
Finally I got to get around to looking at these - the elephant one is my favourite .. and I do like the way your big cats are always 'doing' things :)
tdierikx
Thanks peeps! Perse - Tigers sleeping is so passe... anybody can photograph them doing that, as they ARE sleeping most of the time... *grin* The fact that I go so often to "my" zoos means that I get a better idea of which animals are likely to be doing interesting things at whatever times of the day. Getting known by the keepers also doesn't hurt either, as they are likely to help make things easier by placing food in good photo op positions, placing toys or other enrichment in same, explaining the animals' personalities, etc... so we can judge when things may be about to happen also... tdierikx
Good grief it's Willow! :D Awesome photos! Can you imagine my excitement at seeing Willow out in the enclosure? She grabbed a bag of popcorn and then scuttled back inside really quickly though... ratbag! Jantan put on more of a show by staying out for a good 20 mins. T. j
Great photos. I'm always surprised when I see Elephants at just how small their mouth actually is, considering their size.
