To make you feel easier about the dog being on antibiotics for a long time, my dog has been on them for about 3 years now with no negative side effects.

thanks JulesP! somehow that makes me feel a bit better... biggrin.gif

I was pretty frustrated with the progress it's going with the vet. These revisits costs are piling up on me and I just hope she will just refer me to a specialist and we can move forward.

I found one vet nearby, might be calling in on Monday to check how we go about it, if can get an appt.

I would at least seek another opinion from a different vet practice. Also how are the antibiotics being administered? An injection may be more effective than tablets.

Yes I'm tempted to seek another vet's advice but am not sure how our pet insurance will be able to let us claim from both sides. Might give pet plan a call on Monday before doing it.

It's just tablets. Metrogyl quarter tablet twice daily & anti robe twice daily.

You need to ask your vet for a referral to a specialist, don't wait for her to make the decision.

You will have no problem claiming from your pet insurance for both the GP vet and a specialist. I've done it more than once.

hi all

some update..

the vet finally refer me to SASH in NSW.

will be booking for an appointment soon.

I was just about to suggest going to SAH. They took my Cavaliers tonsils out when she was 6 as they were affecting her breathing. It turns out they were pre cancerous so it was o good idea for us to have the op done.

She was fine afterwards

when you firstly got in SASH, did they make another appointment to put your cav under anaesthetic for the op or you had to go through few visits with medications prescribed before going through it? would like to know your experience.

Lexie was put under anaesthetic last month and not sure if its good idea for another one so soon? She is turning 1 year old this month. And has been in and out of antibiotics for multiple times in her puppyhood!!!

went to SASH but didn't know they decided to check her in to perform the procedure straight away ! to biopsy or maybe removing the tonsil if not too inflamed. So I was charged for the consultation fee & blood test (which I requested) & referral fee for a whopping... $500

I guess luckily I got pet insurance.. now in the process of sending the information of my previous bills to them before claiming for SASH one..

So i didn't fast her. Going back tonight to check her in..

and she will be staying for the night for her procedure tomorrow... I am so so worry..
