Steph M
Hi guys. Taking a little adventure down to Bathurst this week to see Brooke's parents, decided on a crazy whim to pack the dogs and take them too. Given we are leaving early Thursday and will be a looking drive, any suggestions for good spots to stop and let them have a run/swim/frolic would be great. We don't have a route set yet, likely whatever is shortest but we can veer off for stops and things so we are easy. Anything else we shouldn't miss along the way? (Not likely!) General road trip hints? Thanks! Wish us luck!
LisaCC
If you turn off the Hume onto the Olympic HWY after Albury and go up through Wagga, there are lots of places along the river to go swimming. If you go to Wiradjuri Reserve there is a fenced in dog run as well as some sandy river beaches. If you go that way, stop at the Junee Chocolate and Liquorice Factory for Lunch. Mmmm so good! Then if the dogs need another toilet break/run before Bathurst there is a nice fenced in dog park at Cowra across from Maccas. In other news… I'm heading to Orange tomorrow
mixeduppup
Cootamundra is dog friendly, we don't have any off leash places but every park allows dogs and there are some great places for coffee. Also Jugiong is just off the Hume a great cafe and plenty of open space right next to the river. Edited April 15, 2014 by mixeduppup
Steph M
Lisa! For how long? Are you taking Master Nova? Will have to try have a coffee! Gus will be in overdrive. Trips anywhere are just about his favourite thing (but there's a long list of favourite things) You are a whiz, that's fan advice! Cowra sounds good and Wagga is a good idea! Coota is nice too, Mup. We used to go via Coota on the eternal train/bus ride up there. Coffee will definitely be needed and that's a good distance for another stop so keep an eye out for an overexcited flattie and a buzzing whippet x hanging out a tiny red car! I'll be there for just under a week, Master Nova is definitely coming. To his great disappointment he just got a bath so he is presentable Speaking of presentable… as you are driving, if you don't want a sandy car, still go to Wiradjuri but walk to the RIGHT and there is a pebble beach. Good for swimming and no messy sand. Coffee is doable, but may be difficult with everything shutting down for the long weekend! Perhaps a doggy play might be easier to arrange
LisaCC
I have photos. This is the dog run, to the LEFT of the entrance to Wiradjuri reserve. This is one side of the pebble beach you will find if you look to the river on the right when you get to the first bend in the road

HazyWal
Well for starters if you are leaving Melbourne and heading down to Bathurst you'll never get there, it's up :p Secondly just be careful on the road, Easter and Xmas are horrendous on the roads, take your time and as double demerits will be in force in NSW the cops will be everywhere. Enjoy your weekend and stay safe.
