VizslaMomma
Age and breed of George might help. How long has he been on that particular diet? One of the Vizslas has bad breath. His tooth had a build up of tartar.

HappyCamper
Oh sorry he is A senior (guess was 8+) Belgian shepherd. His teeth are nor pearly white but cant see any build of of tarter the vet thinks he had some dental work done and had his top K9 removed at some point. He has been on this diet only 2 weeks now. He was eating garbage for 3 weeks before that just whatever scraps could be found by the other dog while he was stuck in a backyard for 3 wees and before that no clue Edited April 14, 2014 by HappyCamper
Loving my Oldies
I'd give it a week or so to see if a decent diet makes a difference, and then off to the vet for a dental. You would know the difference a dental can make to a dog's overall health and happiness.

Has a blood panel been done recently? My old boy had one when I mentioned 'his smell'. He needed medication for his thyroid. Paws crossed for both of you. Loving my Oldies
My dogs are all elderly now, the "puppy" being 10plus and a couple have started to get a bit smelly when wanting to give some lovin'  . Vet visit in the next couple of weeks just to check.
Staranais
Dental is a good idea - it's very very hard to see the dog's molars, or the inside of any of the hind teeth, without anaesthetising the dog - so there could be nasty things going on back there. Steve
Most often, canine bad breath is caused by dental or gum disease. However, persistent bad breath can also indicate larger medical problems in the mouth, respiratory system, gastrointestinal tract, or organs. Persistent bad breath can indicate that your dog needs better dental care or that something is wrong in his gastrointestinal tract, liver, or kidneys. In all cases, it is a red flag that should be investigated by a vet. In the mean time if this were my dog I would add some apple cidar vinegar to his food and a probiotic such as inner health or protexin.Sometimes adding dietary enzymes with dogs fed on commercial food helps too –something like thrive D. If it sticks around you need a diagnosis. Edited April 16, 2014 by Steve
Rosetta
Consider Tonsillitis - often missed by vets unless they have a thorough look down far enough.

temperamentfirst
We had a visiting dog with foul breath. After a few days he was on the same diet as ours, and had a chicken frame for dinner twice a week. His bad breath disappeared!
Skruffy n Flea
I'd be inclined to provide ascophyllum nodosum in your dog's diet --- it's kelp and the basis for swedencare's proden plaqueoff product distributed in Australia by troy at twice and price... do some research on it. here's two links that will get you started: Plaque Off: DOL thread Plaque Remover: DOL thread
Nicked22
What does it smell like?? Sometimes bad breath can be from them licking their anal glands or a wound.
HappyCamper
Doesnt smell like anal glands and it is actually subsiding a bit so I am hopeful that it will pass with the good diet. I will be taking him in for a check up in a few weeks anyway just a general check over so will make sure to mention the tonsils etc
Charjas
My toy poodle Charlie who is 5 had disgusting breath and was unwell over the Christmas period. Although he seemed to recover he was vomiting once a week. He just had his appendix out and is totally energetic now and his breath has actually improved.
